Metz 2-3 PSG: Paris Saint-Germain Secures Top Spot in Ligue 1 with Dramatic Victory

PSG Secures Top Spot in Ligue 1 with a 3-2 Victory over Metz

Paris Saint-Germain climbed to the summit of Ligue 1 after a dramatic 3-2 away win against struggling Metz. Despite multiple injuries, PSG showcased resilience and youthful talent to secure all three points.

Goncalo Ramos opened the scoring for PSG before Quentin Ndjantou doubled the lead. Ndjantou, an 18-year-old winger, netted his first senior goal following a precise low cross from teammate Ibrahim Mbaye, a 17-year-old, highlighting the club’s promising young prospects.

Metz responded just prior to halftime when midfielder Jessy Deminguet scored from the edge of the penalty area. His strike reduced the deficit to 2-1 and injected hope for the hosts heading into the break.

PSG made a strategic change at halftime by bringing on Desire Doue, returning from a hamstring injury suffered in October. Doue made an immediate impact by skillfully finishing a one-on-one opportunity past Metz’s goalkeeper Jonathan Fischer, restoring PSG’s two-goal advantage shortly after the restart.

The match intensified late on as Metz’s Giorgi Tsitaishvili delivered an exceptional 81st-minute strike into the top corner following a slick one-two with Gauthier Hein. This goal sparked a frantic finish, but PSG managed to hold on to their slender lead until the final whistle.

Injuries to key players including Ousmane Dembele, Achraf Hakimi, and Marquinhos forced PSG manager Luis Enrique to rely on his younger squad members. The performances by Mbaye and Ndjantou emphasized the depth and future potential of the team despite their youth and inexperience.

Lens can reclaim the top position in Ligue 1 if they secure a win over Nice on Sunday. Meanwhile, Metz continues to struggle, remaining at the bottom of the standings with only 11 points after 16 matches.
