Inter Miami CF Boosts Defense with New Signing of Sergio Reguilón from Tottenham Hotspur

Inter Miami CF has secured Spanish defender Sergio Reguilón on a contract extending through December 2027, with an option to extend until December 2028. The experienced left back will fill an international roster slot, enhancing the club’s defensive depth with his extensive European and international experience.

Reguilón, 28, expressed enthusiasm about joining Inter Miami, praising it as an ambitious, winning club. He stated, “It’s a very ambitious project, a winning Club that is doing things the right way, and that’s what attracted me: coming here to keep winning and competing.”

The Spanish defender’s resume includes extensive play in LaLiga and the English Premier League, with more than 260 professional appearances. His record features 81 Premier League matches and 56 LaLiga games, alongside participation in prestigious tournaments like the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, and FIFA Club World Cup.

Born in Madrid, Reguilón progressed through Real Madrid’s youth academy for ten years and debuted for their first team in the UEFA Champions League in October. He contributed to Real Madrid’s fourth FIFA Club World Cup win and had a standout loan spell at Sevilla FC, where he aided in winning the UEFA Europa League and earned a spot in the competition’s squad of the season.

Following his success in Spain, Reguilón transferred to Tottenham Hotspur, spending two seasons before loan moves to Atlético de Madrid, Manchester United, and Brentford FC. He returned to Tottenham in May and recently left as a free agent to join Inter Miami.

At the international level, Reguilón has earned six caps for Spain, including appearances in the UEFA Nations League and FIFA World Cup qualifiers. His rich experience on the global stage is expected to benefit Inter Miami’s ambitions.
