Barry Manilow Postpones Tour Dates Following Discovery of Cancerous Spot in Lung

Barry Manilow Reschedules Tour Dates After Cancerous Spot Found in Left Lung

Barry Manilow announced a rescheduling of his farewell tour dates after doctors discovered a "cancerous spot" on his left lung. He revealed the news on his official Facebook page on December 22, explaining the need to pause his performances for surgery.

Manilow recently completed five charity Christmas concerts at the McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert. These shows have raised millions for nonprofits throughout the Coachella Valley over seven consecutive years.

The singer described his recent health struggles, including six weeks of bronchitis followed by a five-week relapse. Despite feeling recovered and performing in Las Vegas, an MRI ordered by his doctor uncovered the lung spot early.

"It’s pure luck (and a great doctor) that it was found so early," Manilow wrote in the statement. Doctors do not believe the cancer has spread, and he is undergoing tests to confirm this diagnosis.

Manilow shared that surgery is necessary to remove the spot, but he does not require chemotherapy or radiation therapy at this time. "Just chicken soup and I Love Lucy reruns," he humorously added about his recovery plan.

He is optimistic about returning to the stage, counting down the days until his scheduled Valentine’s weekend concerts at the Westgate Las Vegas. Manilow anticipates the comeback show will be a "big party" celebrating health and music.

The postponement affects his January farewell tour, which included nine dates across markets such as Orlando, Tampa, and Columbus. The newly rescheduled dates are planned as follows:

  1. Tampa – February 27 – Benchmark International Arena
  2. Columbus – March 6 – Nationwide Arena
  3. Charleston – March 11 – North Charleston Coliseum
  4. Orlando – March 13 – Kia Center
  5. Sunrise – March 14 – Amerant Bank Arena
  6. Greensboro – April 24 – First Horizon Coliseum
  7. Jacksonville – April 27 – VyStar Veterans Memorial

Earlier in the year, Manilow reflected on his legendary career and his peers from the ’70s and ’80s in an interview. He acknowledged the shrinking ranks of his contemporaries but emphasized his continued strength and vocal abilities.

Fans and supporters have expressed well-wishes for his recovery as Manilow prepares for surgery and a hopeful return to performing.
