Crash of Plane Carrying Burn Patients in Galveston Bay
A plane originating from Merida, Mexico, crashed in Galveston Bay on Monday while attempting to land at Scholes International Airport. The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office confirmed there were burn patients onboard, including pediatric cases.
The incident occurred near the base of the Galveston Causeway, just west of the causeway and north of the airport. The U.S. Coast Guard received notification of the crash around 3:15 p.m. Six individuals were reported in the water; however, their current conditions remain undisclosed.
