DJ Shipley, a former Navy SEAL, analyzed the epic battle from John Wick: Chapter 4 in a video for Insider. He described John Wick’s tactic of running into the center of a room with twelve enemies as "the worst scenario." Shipley explained, “You should run down the longest wall, take a right turn, and keep the wall to your shoulder for cover.”

Shipley also pointed out John’s improper handling of close-range attacks. He noted that trying to shoot an opponent one arm’s length away is extremely dangerous and ineffective. According to Shipley, a better real-world approach would be to use distractions and flank the enemy for a surprise ambush.

The expert further questioned the movie’s central concept: the bulletproof suit. He acknowledged its usefulness in fiction but highlighted a critical flaw. Shipley said, “A 9mm shot hits hard enough to knock down anyone, even in a bulletproof suit.” This challenges the movie’s portrayal of invincibility during gunfights.

Another major issue Shipley raised concerns John Wick’s shooting technique. The character often fires quickly without aiming down sights or choosing clear targets. Shipley remarked, “You can’t just wing your shots in close-quarters combat. Every round counts, especially when facing multiple adversaries.”

Despite these critiques, Shipley admitted the scene’s entertainment value is undeniable. He rated it a perfect ten for excitement but gave it a one for tactical realism. This distinction highlights the gap between cinematic spectacle and actual combat strategy.
