Michigan freshman wide receiver Andrew Marsh has officially changed his jersey number ahead of the Wolverines’ Citrus Bowl matchup against Texas. Marsh posted on Instagram that he is switching from No. 4 to No. 3, a number he previously wore in high school.
The number change comes after Michigan’s coaching shift, with Kyle Whittingham replacing Sherrone Moore. Marsh’s move to No. 3 is significant because it was formerly worn by Fredrick Moore, who transferred away from the team. This suggests Marsh may keep No. 3 permanently if he remains with Michigan.
Marsh quickly emerged as Michigan’s leading receiver this season. After limited playing time in the first three weeks, he became a key starter and finished the regular season with 42 receptions, 641 yards, and three touchdowns. His standout performance included a game versus Northwestern where he hauled in 12 catches for 189 yards, helping Michigan to a narrow 24-22 win.
Retention of Marsh is critical for Michigan’s future offensive plans. Following the Citrus Bowl, he will likely attract interest from other programs. Michigan must ensure they keep their top pass-catcher on the roster as they build toward next season.
