IKEA Targets Fort Collins with Massive 64,000-Sq-Ft Store, Replacing Urban Air and Shaking Up Local Retail Scene in Bold Expansion Plan for 2026

IKEA has announced plans to open a new store in Fort Collins, marking its third retail location in Colorado. The new IKEA will occupy the former Urban Air trampoline park site at 4250 Corbett Drive.

The upcoming store will span 64,000 square feet and feature specialized areas for kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom planning. Customers can expect to browse approximately 3,200 items, including home furnishing accessories and small furniture pieces.

This Fort Collins store will also offer IKEA’s well-known food items such as Swedish meatballs, hot dogs, and veggie dogs. The addition aligns with IKEA’s strategy to expand its footprint by opening 10 new stores in the fiscal year 2026.

Currently, IKEA operates a large 415,000-square-foot store in Centennial and a pick-up location in Colorado Springs. The new Fort Collins store complements these locations by enhancing access to the brand in Northern Colorado.

In recent years, IKEA has accelerated its growth by opening 14 new retail sites, including small-format stores in Arcadia, California, and San Marcos, Texas. This expansion aims to improve shopping convenience and increase brand presence across key markets.

This development is expected to positively impact Fort Collins, providing residents with wider access to affordable, Scandinavian-inspired home furnishings. The store’s introduction may also contribute to local economic growth by creating job opportunities.

IKEA’s Fort Collins location is part of a broader corporate effort to diversify store formats while maintaining key brand elements like food and personalized planning services. This balance aims to attract both new and existing customers in a competitive retail environment.
