Vehicles Prohibited from Using Pertalite Fuel at Pertamina Gas Stations: Complete List

The Indonesian government has implemented new regulations banning certain motorcycles and cars from using Pertalite fuel at Pertamina gas stations. Starting from the 10th of November, vehicles that fall under the restriction will be refused Pertalite by station attendants nationwide.

This policy aims to ensure that government fuel subsidies are distributed properly and only benefit the intended segments. It also aligns with the updated provisions in the Presidential Regulation Number 191 issued in 2014 regarding the supply, distribution, and retail pricing of fuel.

Vehicles Prohibited from Using Pertalite

The ban applies specifically to cars with engine capacities exceeding 1,400 cc and motorcycles with engines at or above 250 cc. This measure targets higher-displacement vehicles that are considered capable of consuming premium fuel types, thereby optimizing subsidy allocation.

The following motorcycles are on the restricted list and no longer eligible to purchase Pertalite at Pertamina stations:

  1. Yamaha XMAX
  2. Yamaha TMAX
  3. Yamaha MT25
  4. Yamaha R25
  5. Yamaha MT09
  6. Yamaha MT07
  7. Honda Forza
  8. Honda CB650R

Owners of these models must use alternative fuel types such as Pertamax, which does not carry government subsidies. Pertamina staff at gas stations have been instructed to actively enforce this rule and prevent unauthorized Pertalite dispensing.

Implications for Vehicle Owners

This rule impacts a significant segment of motorcycle and car owners who will need to shift to higher-grade fuels. The government seeks to reduce misuse of subsidized fuel by vehicles capable of operating efficiently on premium products. This also potentially improves fuel efficiency and reduces emissions in the long term.

Fuel pricing is also affected under this regulation. Pertalite remains subsidized, making it more affordable but limited to eligible vehicles only. Premium fuels like Pertamax come at a higher market price but offer better engine performance for vehicles with larger engines.

The policy reinforces the government’s commitment to managing fuel subsidies more effectively while encouraging responsible fuel consumption. Pertamina’s continued role in regulating fuel distribution ensures that subsidies reach the right users and supports national energy sustainability goals.
