BYD has positioned the Seagull 2026 as more than just another inexpensive city EV. With a starting price of 69,900 yuan and an available LiDAR-equipped driving assistance package, the compact model pushes well beyond the usual expectations for its class.
The headline figures are easy to notice, but the real appeal lies in how the car combines daily practicality with features usually associated with higher segments. Range reaches up to 405 km, while the most advanced version adds BYD’s “God’s Eye B” assistance suite for buyers who want more than basic urban mobility.
Advanced assistance in a small EV
The most prominent upgrade on the Seagull 2026 is the optional LiDAR unit tied to the DiPilot 300 system. That setup enables City Navigation on Autopilot, giving the small EV a more sophisticated driver-assist profile than many vehicles in the same size category.
BYD also includes traffic light recognition and roundabout navigation support to help drivers in city traffic. Safety equipment goes further with a Driver Monitoring System, Automatic Emergency Braking, and a five-direction journey recorder.
The version fitted with “God’s Eye B” and LiDAR starts at 90,900 yuan and goes up to 97,900 yuan. That places the most advanced trim in a higher bracket while still keeping the Seagull within the compact EV segment.
Two battery choices, one city-focused platform
Under the body, the Seagull 2026 uses a single electric motor rated at 55 kW, or 74 hp. Peak torque is listed at 135 Nm, which is enough for routine urban driving and daily commuting.
BYD offers two battery packs: 30.08 kWh and 38.88 kWh. The smaller pack delivers a claimed 305 km of range, while the larger one extends that figure to 405 km.
That range split gives buyers a clearer choice between lower entry cost and longer distance capability. For a compact electric car, that flexibility is one of the model’s strongest selling points.
Compact dimensions remain part of the formula
Even with the added technology, the Seagull keeps its small footprint. Its dimensions are 3,780 mm long, 1,715 mm wide, and 1,540 mm tall, with a 2,500 mm wheelbase.
Those measurements keep it suited to tight streets and limited parking spaces. The proportions match its role as a practical EV for everyday city use rather than a larger family-oriented model.
BYD also refreshed the exterior with two new colors, Mango Orange and Mint Green. The update includes 16-inch “Starlight” wheels, new LED rear lights, and a backlit logo.
Cabin upgrades aim for a more modern feel
Inside, the Seagull 2026 adopts a new “Oatmeal Rice” color theme. The change gives the cabin a fresher appearance and helps distinguish the updated model from its predecessor.
The infotainment side is handled by BYD’s DiLink 150 system, shown on a 12.8-inch high-resolution touchscreen. The display supports 3D vehicle controls and customizable navigation settings.
Comfort features also receive attention. The car includes 50W wireless charging, heated front seats, and a 6-way electric driver’s seat.
Four trims, wide pricing spread
For the Chinese market, BYD has prepared four Seagull 2026 variants. The entry price begins at 69,900 yuan, while the top non-LiDAR version reaches 85,900 yuan.
That pricing range keeps the model accessible while still allowing room for higher-spec versions. Buyers who want the most advanced driver-assist package can step up to the LiDAR-equipped “God’s Eye B” trims instead.
