Total War: Warhammer III Hits A Record Low At $8.99, Yet Its Player Base Holds Strong

A steep Steam discount has pushed Total War: Warhammer III down to $8.99, marking the game’s lowest price ever and making it one of the most eye-catching strategy deals currently available. The cut reaches 85%, yet the game is still backed by a player base that has not faded away.

That ongoing interest is reflected in its Steam reception. Total War: Warhammer III holds a 70% positive rating from more than 140,000 reviews, while its concurrent player count typically sits between 11,000 and 35,000.

The game launched for PC on 17 February 2022 and serves as the final entry in the Total War: Warhammer trilogy set in the Warhammer fantasy universe. Published by SEGA and developed by Creative Assembly, it combines turn-based strategy with real-time battles on a large campaign map.

Players command fantasy armies across massive engagements that demand careful unit interaction. The game also lets players lead factions such as Kislev and Cathay, alongside the Chaos gods Khorne, Nurgle, Slaanesh, and Tzeentch.

Two major modes continue to shape its appeal. Realm of Chaos centers on the story of the imprisoned god Ursun and the portals to the Realm of Chaos, while Immortal Empires merges the maps from all three games into a large sandbox.

Immortal Empires also opens access to nearly every faction and Legendary Lord from the trilogy. For owners of earlier titles in the series, the base game provides full access to Immortal Empires as well.

Post-launch support has expanded the game further through multiple DLC releases. Those additions have brought new races, characters, and mechanics into the experience.

The game’s early reception was mixed, but its standing has improved over time. The current review score and active player numbers suggest that Total War: Warhammer III has maintained a durable audience despite that uneven launch period.

For buyers looking to enter the game at the lowest possible cost, the current Steam sale is especially notable. The $8.99 price is temporary and is scheduled to end on 28 May 2026, while most DLC remains sold separately.
