PS5 Disc Leak Exposes 007 First Light’s Opening Mission Before Launch

A physical PS5 copy has become the latest leak source for 007 First Light, and the most sensitive part of the game surfaced first. Footage of the opening mission in Iceland appeared on YouTube before being removed after a copyright strike from IO Interactive.

The upload came from a small channel called Gamingkurosh, which posted the video under the title “007 First Light Part 1.” Despite having only around 510 subscribers, the clip spread quickly after it was shared to r/GamingLeaksAndRumours in less than an hour.

What made the leak especially notable was not only its timing, but also what it confirmed about the game’s structure. The footage indicated that only the first mission can be played offline, which turned the opening section into the easiest part to circulate before launch.

That detail also helps explain why the breach traveled so fast. A physical console disk remained the weakest point in the rollout, even as other anti-piracy measures were being prepared around the PC version.

IO Interactive had recently shared review code with press on May 22, while concerns over piracy and pre-release file distribution were already surrounding the game. Less than a week before release, Denuvo DRM was added to the PC version in part to reduce piracy risk, yet the leak still arrived through a console disk instead.

Community response centered on what the footage showed rather than only on the fact that it leaked. On Reddit, many early comments compared the atmosphere to Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes because of its quiet and bleak tone.

Others pointed to the presentation of the environment and the writing, saying the game already looked polished. One Reddit comment went further, saying the game felt convincing right away even after earlier doubts raised by the official trailer.

Similar reactions appeared in YouTube comments. One viewer noted that Bond still lacked a gunbarrel scene and linked that absence to the character’s backstory before receiving his number.

At the time of reporting, IO Interactive had not yet issued a takedown for the video, although such moves often follow once pre-release footage begins circulating widely. Interest in the leak also continued to build, with comments asking for a second part and showing strong curiosity about the opening mission itself.
