Apple May Shrink The Dynamic Island On iPhone 18 Pro, New Leak Points To Taller Displays

Apple’s next Pro iPhones are already drawing attention for a change that would be easy to spot the moment the screen lights up. The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are said to be getting taller displays and a smaller Dynamic Island, which would mark one of the most noticeable front-side updates in years for the Pro lineup.

The latest leak comes from tipster Majin, who shared an image on X through @MajinBuOfficial that he claimed showed protective glass for both models. That image has fueled new speculation that Apple is adjusting the panel dimensions as part of a broader redesign of the front of its premium phones.

A different screen shape, not just a larger size

The rumored changes are not only about diagonal size. The new displays are said to be taller and a little narrower, which could alter the look of the phones and the way they sit in the hand.

That kind of adjustment would let Apple expand the viewing area without making the devices feel much wider. For users, the result could be more usable screen space while keeping the phones relatively comfortable for one-handed use.

According to the leak, the iPhone 18 Pro may use a display of around 6.4 inches. The iPhone 18 Pro Max is said to move close to 7 inches, pushing it further into large-screen territory.

For comparison, the current iPhone 17 Pro has a 6.3-inch display, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max uses a 6.9-inch panel. The size increase is modest on paper, but it would still be a visible step for Apple’s premium models.

Dynamic Island could shrink noticeably

The other major point in the rumor is the Dynamic Island. Apple is reportedly working to reduce its size by about 25% to 35%, which would make the top section of the screen look more open.

Even with the same overall design language, a smaller Dynamic Island would be easy to notice at a glance. It would also reinforce the idea that Apple is refining the front of the phone rather than simply stretching the display.

The Dynamic Island has become one of the most recognizable visual elements on recent iPhones. Any reduction in its footprint would therefore carry weight not only in practical terms, but also in how the device feels visually updated.

Rumors remain centered on the premium models

The conversation around the iPhone 18 family has been led mostly by the Pro models and the foldable device often referred to as iPhone Fold or iPhone Ultra. By contrast, there has been far less talk about the standard iPhone 18 and other variants.

That pattern has led to speculation that Apple may put the spotlight on its premium devices first. Reports have also suggested that the iPhone 18 range could eventually include six smartphones, although the full lineup remains unclear.

For now, the strongest chatter centers on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max because those are the models most likely to showcase design changes in a way that stands out immediately. A taller panel and a smaller Dynamic Island are exactly the kind of updates that Apple can use to signal a meaningful refresh at the high end.

None of these details have been confirmed by Apple, and they still sit firmly in rumor territory. Even so, the direction of the leak suggests that the front of the iPhone 18 Pro series may look more different than recent Pro generations, especially if the company follows through on both the display changes and the reduced Dynamic Island.
