A new Geekbench result is putting the MediaTek Dimensity 7500 firmly in the spotlight, and the early numbers suggest a meaningful step up from the Dimensity 7400. In CPU testing, the newer chip is already showing an advantage of around 20 percent, which is a notable gap for a mid-range platform.
The benchmark appeared on the Vivo S60 Vitality Edition, the first device confirmed to use the Dimensity 7500. That gives the score added weight, even though it still reflects only synthetic performance rather than real-world battery life or sustained behavior.
Early Geekbench numbers point to a clear lead
On Geekbench 6, the Dimensity 7500 recorded 1,243 points in single-core testing and 3,569 points in multi-core testing. Those results place it ahead of the Dimensity 7400, which was measured on the Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G.
For comparison, the Dimensity 7400 posted 1,050 points in single-core and 2,939 points in multi-core performance on the same benchmark. The difference is large enough to make the newer chip roughly 20 percent faster on the CPU side.
That kind of jump matters in a premium mid-range chipset, where responsiveness in everyday tasks often shapes the user experience more than any single headline spec. App launches, multitasking, and general interface fluidity tend to benefit first when CPU gains are this visible.
ARM’s new core design is part of the shift
MediaTek has equipped the Dimensity 7500 with ARM’s latest C1 core, which marks a departure from the Dimensity 7400’s use of Cortex-A78 and Cortex-A55. That core change suggests the improvement is not just the result of tuning, but of a more substantial generational update.
The benchmark figures therefore line up with the architectural switch. Even so, the real question now is efficiency, since higher performance only becomes truly useful if the chipset can keep power use under control in actual devices.
Vivo’s new phone offers the first glimpse
The Vivo S60 Vitality Edition is the first handset to ship with the Dimensity 7500, and it sits in the sub-premium segment. Vivo announced the phone in China alongside the Vivo T5, with a starting price of CNY 2,899, or about $430.
That positioning makes the device an important early test case for MediaTek’s new chip. The segment is highly sensitive to value, so any meaningful performance improvement can help a handset stand out if it arrives without major compromises elsewhere.
Performance is only part of the story for now
For the moment, Geekbench only answers one side of the equation. It confirms that the Dimensity 7500 has opened with stronger CPU numbers than its predecessor, but it does not show how the chip behaves under longer workloads or how much power it draws.
That leaves room for further testing once more devices begin using the platform. If the Dimensity 7500 can preserve this level of performance without a steep cost in energy efficiency, it may become one of MediaTek’s more important mid-range updates.
