BYD has given the third-generation Atto 3 a substantial update, and the biggest change is not cosmetic. The electric SUV now places far more emphasis on driver assistance, with certain variants carrying 30 smart sensors linked to the DiPilot 300 “God’s Eye B” system.
That setup is intended to make the vehicle easier to use across highways, urban roads, and parking situations. In China, where the model was introduced on May 21 under the Yuan Plus name, the new Atto 3 represents a broader push that combines safer assistance technology with a fresher platform, improved range, and a more upscale cabin.
A stronger focus on assistance technology
The 30-sensor package is one of the main talking points because it expands the car’s ability to monitor the environment around it. On selected variants, BYD also adds lidar to support the driver-assistance system.
DiPilot 300 “God’s Eye B” is designed to support drivers in multiple scenarios. The system is meant to assist on highways, in city traffic, and during automatic parking.
New platform, new batteries, and more range
Under the body, the third-generation Atto 3 rides on BYD’s latest e-Platform 3.0 Evo. It also uses the second-generation Blade battery and supports fast charging.
Two battery sizes are offered: 57.5 kWh and 68.5 kWh. Depending on the variant, claimed range sits between 540 km and 630 km under the CLTC cycle.
The SUV uses a rear-wheel-drive layout with electric motor outputs of 200 kW and 240 kW. That combination gives the new model a broader spread of performance options while keeping the technical package aligned with BYD’s latest EV hardware.
Cleaner exterior, larger proportions
Visually, the new Atto 3 keeps BYD’s familiar Dragon Face identity, but the design has been cleaned up for a more modern look. The front end now appears flatter, while the headlights have become slimmer.
Other exterior changes include semi-hidden door handles and a full-width rear light bar with a woven-style lighting pattern. The result is a more restrained appearance than before, while still staying recognizable as a BYD SUV.
Size also plays a role in the car’s appeal. The model measures 4,665 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, and 1,675 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,770 mm. Those figures help it remain compact enough for daily use while still offering a roomier stance.
Practicality is supported by a 180-liter electric front trunk that can be opened with a tap feature. At the rear, cargo capacity reaches up to 750 liters.
Cabin upgrades aim for a more premium feel
Inside, the most visible change is the larger floating center screen, which runs the latest DiLink system. BYD also fitted a new two-spoke steering wheel, a head-up display, and a column-mounted gear selector.
A 50W wireless charging pad is among the convenience features available. For the front passenger, BYD adds a “Queen Seat” with a leg rest, while comfort equipment also includes a cooled cabin storage area, heated and ventilated front seats, and a heated steering wheel.
Sound quality is handled by a 16-speaker audio system. Storage solutions have also been made more functional, with a figurine box in front of the passenger seat, a drawer under the rear seat, a glasses compartment, and a dedicated tissue holder.
Four variants in the Chinese market
In China, the third-generation Atto 3 is sold in four variants. Prices range from 119,900 yuan to 149,900 yuan.
With its updated platform, new battery setup, refined design, and more advanced driver-assistance hardware, the model arrives as a meaningful step forward from the previous Atto 3. The addition of 30 smart sensors and lidar on certain versions makes it stand out further in an increasingly crowded electric SUV segment.
