Lenovo is positioning the IdeaPad Slim 5 Ultra as a 14-inch thin-and-light laptop that puts battery life at the center of the pitch. The standout claim is its 65 Wh battery, which is rated for up to 23.3 hours under a local 1080p video playback test at 150 nits.
That endurance figure makes the device especially relevant for users who move between workspaces often. Lenovo is clearly trying to combine portability with enough headroom for everyday productivity, instead of relying on slim dimensions alone.
Battery life first, weight second
The long runtime is paired with a light chassis, which helps define the IdeaPad Slim 5 Ultra as a mobile-focused machine. For users who spend time away from a charger, that combination may matter more than raw power numbers on paper.
Lenovo’s testing conditions also help frame the claim more clearly. The 23.3-hour result was measured while playing a locally stored 1080p video at 150 nits, so it reflects a controlled scenario rather than a mixed real-world workload.
A base configuration built for daily use
At the entry level, the laptop comes with the Core Ultra 5 226V. That chip has eight cores, integrated Arc 130V graphics, and 16 GB of LPDDR5X-8533 memory.
This setup shows that Lenovo is not treating the model as a purely minimalist device. The goal appears to be a balance between power efficiency, everyday responsiveness, and graphics capability that remains useful for modern workloads.
The display specification supports that approach as well. The default panel is an IPS screen with 1600p resolution, 100% sRGB coverage, a 400-nit peak brightness rating, and a 120 Hz refresh rate.
Configurable for different priorities
Lenovo is also offering a faster version for Australia. That variant uses the Core Ultra 7 256V and is said to be about 6% faster in CPU benchmarks and more than 25% stronger in GPU workloads than the Core Ultra 5 226V.
The higher-performance option does come with a trade-off. Lenovo says it costs around 13% more, so buyers will need to decide whether the added speed is worth the extra expense.
Storage flexibility is another notable part of the package. The IdeaPad Slim 5 Ultra can be configured with up to 1 TB through an M.2 2242 slot, which gives the thin laptop a more substantial storage ceiling than many compact systems.
Connectivity and display options widen the appeal
Wireless support also changes depending on configuration. The base model includes Wi-Fi 6, while selected configurations can move up to Wi-Fi 7.
Lenovo has also prepared an alternate OLED display option with 1200p resolution and a 60 Hz refresh rate. That version is aimed at users who value OLED panel characteristics more than the higher refresh rate of the IPS panel.
There is, however, an important battery note tied to the OLED choice. Lenovo’s official battery estimate drops by more than 15% to 19.5 hours, though that is still a strong figure for a thin 14-inch laptop.
The IdeaPad Slim 5 Ultra is expected to reach other markets later this month. With its mix of long battery life, multiple display choices, and different processor and connectivity options, Lenovo is giving buyers several ways to tailor the same 14-inch platform to different needs.
