Fortnite Remains Offline After Shattered, Estimated Return Window for Runners Servers

Fortnite players are still waiting for the game to come back online after the Shattered live event ended and the server entered scheduled downtime. The next major step is the launch of Chapter 7 Season 3: Runners, but Epic Games has not confirmed a final global restart time yet.

The season is set to begin on Saturday, June 6, 2026, although access depends on how long maintenance takes and how smoothly update v41.00 is deployed. That means the return window remains fluid, even as players continue to track when the servers will finally reopen.

When the servers may come back

The shutdown began right after the Shattered live event wrapped up, with server downtime starting at 7:30 PM ET on June 5, 2026. Because this is a major seasonal transition, the outage is expected to last several hours rather than a short routine maintenance window.

Some estimates suggest the downtime could take around five and a half hours. Based on that timeline, the game may come back online in the early morning to morning hours of June 6 across many regions.

For players in the United States, the commonly shared window points to roughly 4 AM to 7 AM ET. Other timing estimates circulating place North America at 10:00 PM PT on June 5 and 1:00 AM ET on June 6.

Across Europe, the projected times are 5:00 AM GMT, 6:00 AM BST, and 7:00 AM CEST on June 6. In Asia, the expected range is 10:30 AM IST, 1:00 PM SGT, and 2:00 PM JST on June 6.

Oceania players may see access return later in the day, with estimates at 3:00 PM AEDT and 5:00 PM NZDT on June 6. Even so, all of these remain estimates until Epic Games confirms the global restart.

Why this downtime may stretch longer

Epic Games moved the game into maintenance immediately after the live event to prepare the new seasonal content. That process includes the new map setup and the rollout of the large v41.00 update for Season 3.

Downtime like this is common whenever Fortnite enters a new season. The difference this time is scale, since Chapter 7 Season 3 is being positioned as one of Fortnite’s biggest updates in 2026.

Epic Games also tends to bring servers back in stages after testing is complete. As a result, some players may regain access before others depending on region and server stability.

What Runners is bringing

Season 3 is set to introduce a major tropical-themed overhaul to the main island. That change will affect terrain, visuals, and several points of interest that players will notice as soon as they drop in.

A new map usually reshapes early-game movement, loot routes, and contested landing spots. The addition of new weapons to the loot pool is also expected to shift combat strategy and the overall meta.

Sprites are returning in this season as well. These companion creatures will provide buffs and specific abilities during matches.

The Season 3 Battle Pass adds several new skins too. Among the names mentioned are a Pen & Ink version of John Wick, a Doctor Slone remix, PJ, other original characters, and a collaboration with streamer TheBurntPeanut.

What players can do now

Pre-load for Chapter 7 Season 3 is already available. That gives players a chance to download the data early so they are ready the moment servers go live again.

For now, the game remains in scheduled downtime. Anyone waiting for Runners will need to keep an eye on official updates from Epic Games until maintenance is marked complete.
