The clearest sign came from a listing in the Bluetooth SIG database, which has added fresh weight to the new naming theory. According to findings highlighted by 9to5Google, a device previously believed to be the standard foldable is now shown under the name Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra.
That detail strengthens the idea that Samsung may be redirecting the model originally expected to carry the Galaxy Z Fold 8 name into an Ultra variant instead. At the same time, the wider device that had been associated with Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide is now believed to be the one that will simply launch as Galaxy Z Fold 8.
A Reversal That Changes Expectations
If that plan holds, the result will be a notable reversal of how Samsung’s foldables have been understood in the market. A product named Galaxy Z Fold 8 would no longer automatically represent the traditional main model, while the Ultra label would sit on the device many buyers may have assumed was the standard version.
