Honda has sharpened the competition in Indonesia’s 160cc maxi scooter segment by giving the PCX 160 and ADV 160 a clearer advantage in safety and digital connectivity. The newest updates move these models beyond design and engine output, placing braking control and smartphone integration at the center of the premium scooter conversation.

The most important change is the addition of dual-channel ABS on selected variants. Working independently on the front and rear wheels, the system is designed to reduce the risk of wheel lock during sudden braking and help riders maintain control on wet or uneven roads.

Safety Features Take The Lead

Honda also equips the models with Honda Selectable Torque Control, or HSTC, which helps manage rear-wheel grip. When the tire senses the potential for slip, the system adjusts the power delivered to the wheel, a function that is especially useful on slippery, sandy, or low-traction surfaces.

Together, dual-channel ABS and HSTC show how the premium 160cc class is changing. Features once associated with higher motorcycle segments are now becoming decisive buying points for a much wider group of riders.

That shift matters because buyers are paying more attention to protection, not just comfort and fuel efficiency. In daily commuting or longer rides, the ability to preserve stability under hard braking can make a meaningful difference in rider confidence.

RoadSync Adds A New Digital Layer

Honda’s RoadSync technology is another major differentiator, available on the top variant. Through a 5-inch TFT screen, riders can connect a smartphone to the scooter and access key information without taking their attention far from the road.

The system supports digital navigation and can display call and message notifications on the instrument panel. That makes the riding experience feel more connected and more efficient, especially for users who rely on their scooter throughout the day.

RoadSync is also part of what separates the newest models from previous versions. In the premium scooter market, the ability to surface important phone functions on the bike itself has become a valuable feature rather than a bonus addition.

Two Models, Two Distinct Personalities

The New Honda PCX 160 continues to target riders who want an elegant urban scooter with a comfortable riding position. Its spacious legroom and large underseat storage add practical value for daily use and commuters with active mobility needs.

The Honda ADV 160, meanwhile, keeps its adventure-oriented identity intact. Its tougher styling and higher ground clearance make it more suitable for riders who want a scooter that can handle a wider range of road conditions.

With dual-channel ABS and HSTC in place, the ADV 160 gains an added layer of reassurance for longer trips. The PCX 160 and ADV 160 therefore serve different priorities, even as both move up in equipment level.

Market Position And Pricing

In Jakarta and surrounding areas, the Honda PCX 160 ABS starts at Rp37,951 million for the standard ABS variant. The top PCX 160 ABS RoadSync version is priced at around Rp40,951 million.

Within the same segment, the Honda ADV 160 ABS is sold at around Rp40,310 million. Those figures place both scooters firmly in the premium 160cc category, where features and refinement now carry as much weight as performance.

The latest update suggests that competition in this class will keep intensifying. Honda has made it clear that premium scooters are now expected to offer more than strong styling and a reliable engine, with protection, control, and digital convenience becoming central expectations.
