The iPhone 17 Pro Max has suddenly become more affordable in India, but the bigger question is whether this discount is enough to justify buying now. Reliance Digital is offering a total saving of Rs 11,508, bringing the effective price down to Rs 1,38,392 from the launch price of Rs 1,49,900 for eligible SBI credit card users.
What makes the offer stand out is that the retailer has already lowered the listed price before the bank promotion is applied. Even without the SBI benefit, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is being sold for Rs 1,44,990, which is Rs 4,910 below the original launch price.
How the discount is structured
The pricing cut comes in two stages. Reliance Digital has reduced the direct listing price first, and eligible SBI credit card transactions can unlock an additional discount at checkout.
That second layer is valued at Rs 6,598, which lifts the total saving to Rs 11,508 when combined with the lower retailer price. Other bank-related offers are also available for select ICICI Bank and Axis Bank cards, although the final benefit may differ.
Why this offer matters
Price cuts on Apple’s Pro Max models are not usually easy to find, especially on the latest flagship tier. In this case, the promotion is notable because no other online platform is currently offering a similar direct reduction for the model.
That makes the deal especially relevant for buyers who want an Apple flagship immediately rather than waiting for a future price change. A saving of more than Rs 11,000 is significant in a segment where premium pricing is the norm.
What the iPhone 17 Pro Max offers
Beyond the temporary discount, the iPhone 17 Pro Max remains positioned as one of Apple’s strongest premium phones. The device uses a lighter aluminium body and a redesigned rear camera layout, while the display is described as brighter with an anti-glare layer for improved outdoor visibility.
Performance is driven by the A19 Pro chip, supported by a vapour chamber cooling system to help sustain speed during gaming and heavy workloads. Battery life is also one of the phone’s main strengths, and Apple has equipped the rear camera system with 48-megapixel sensors across the setup, along with an improved front camera.
Buy now or wait for iPhone 18 Pro Max
The decision now depends on timing and patience. Buyers who need a flagship phone right away may find the current Reliance Digital deal attractive, especially since it lowers entry into the top-end Apple lineup.
Those who can wait may prefer to see what the iPhone 18 Pro Max brings. Rumors suggest a smaller Dynamic Island, a larger battery in the range of 5,100mAh to 5,200mAh, and a more efficient LTPO+ panel.
The next model is also expected to use Apple’s A20 Pro chip on TSMC’s 2nm process, while camera rumors point to a variable aperture main sensor, a new stacked image sensor, and improved telephoto performance in low light and zoom. Apple is also said to be working on a next-generation C2 modem and broader satellite communication capabilities.
There is another reason some buyers may hold off. Apple often lowers prices on older iPhone models after a new generation arrives, and if that pattern repeats, the iPhone 17 Pro Max could see an official reduction of around Rs 10,000 later on.
Festival-period promotions such as Diwali could add further pressure on prices as well. For buyers who do not want to wait, however, the current Reliance Digital offer already delivers a sharper price point than the launch figure.
