Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is drawing unusual attention before its console debut. Metacritic currently places the game above 84 on average for Xbox Series S/X, PlayStation 5, and PC, a score that pushes it into discussion as one of the strongest Lego releases to date.
The result stands out because it edges past several well-known predecessors, including Lego Star Wars and Lego Marvel Super Heroes. For Nintendo players, the bigger immediate takeaway is that the game is confirmed for Switch 2 on 18 September 2026.
Switch 2 launch comes with two editions
Warner Bros. Games is preparing two purchase options for the Switch 2 release. The Standard Edition will cost $70, while the Deluxe Edition is set at $90 and includes additional content.
The Deluxe Edition bundles the base game, the Legacy Collection pack, and access to the Mayhem Collection DLC. That add-on is scheduled to arrive across all platforms on 18 September as well.
What Deluxe buyers receive
The physical Deluxe version also includes a limited-edition Retro Video Game Batman Lego minifigure. Warner Bros. says the collectible is free with purchase, but only while supplies last.
The company has also indicated that production is very limited, making the bonus more appealing to collectors than to casual buyers.
Pre-order benefits and early access
Both the Standard and Deluxe editions come with a Dark Knight Returns Batman costume for pre-orders. That gives early buyers an extra incentive even before launch day arrives.
Deluxe buyers receive an additional advantage through three days of early access. That means they can start playing on 15 September, ahead of the full release.
Mayhem Collection expands the game
The Mayhem Collection adds a new mode that lets players control Joker and Harley Quinn as the main characters. It also introduces new story missions and more Batman costume variants.
Additional content in the pack includes Batcave items and a new Batmobile look. Players who already own the digital base game will still be able to upgrade later for $25.
With strong review momentum, a stacked Deluxe package, and a fixed release date for Switch 2, Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight enters September with clear commercial appeal. The combination of collector bonuses, pre-order rewards, and extra DLC content gives the game a stronger launch position than many expected.
