Telkomsel has reshaped its leadership structure as it prepares for a more competitive phase in Indonesia’s telecommunications market. The move signals a sharper push toward 5G, digital services, and stronger execution across the company’s core business.
The restructuring reflects an agreement between Telkom Indonesia and Singtel, Telkomsel’s two main shareholders. Both sides see stronger leadership as essential to protecting the operator’s position as one of the country’s most important telecom players.
New oversight with broad industry experience
On the board of commissioners, Diaz F.M. Hendropriyono now serves as President Commissioner. He is joined by Muhammad Yusuf Ateh, Ahmad Riza Patria, Irfan Wahid, Chandra Arie Setiawan, Rico Rustombi, Yuen Kuan Moon, and Yip Anna, creating a supervisory lineup that spans government, corporate, and global technology experience.
This combination suggests Telkomsel wants a wider strategic lens as it faces changing consumer behavior, faster digital adoption, and rising demand for high-speed connectivity. The company appears to be preparing for a market where network quality and service relevance matter more than ever.
Nugroho takes the top executive role
At the executive level, Telkomsel has appointed Nugroho as its new President Director. That position carries direct responsibility for expansion strategy, digital monetization, and the next stage of network development.
The new board of directors also includes Daru Mulyawan as Director of Finance & Risk Management, Stanislaus Susatyo as Director of Sales, Indra Mardiatna as Director of Network, Wong Soon Nam as Director of Planning & Transformation, Joyce Shia as Director of Information Technology, Lionel Chng as Director of Marketing, and Indrawan Ditapradana as Director of Human Capital Management.
5G remains the central business priority
With the new leadership in place, Telkomsel is expected to move faster on its core connectivity business while expanding its digital offerings. The main priority remains sustained investment in 5G, which is becoming increasingly important for both individual users and enterprise customers.
Beyond faster mobile internet, 5G opens the door to smart city applications, IoT, cloud gaming, and industrial automation. Those use cases make the technology more than a consumer upgrade, especially in a market like Indonesia where digital demand continues to climb.
AI and customer experience move higher on the agenda
Telkomsel is also placing greater emphasis on AI as part of its next growth phase. The technology is expected to help improve customer experience through more personalized offers, better customer service, and greater internal efficiency.
For subscribers, the leadership change is meant to support a network and service portfolio that is more stable, faster, and more relevant to modern digital needs. For the company, it is a clear sign that the next stage of competition will be won not only through scale, but also through execution.
