Redmi Turbo 5 is making an unusual case in the upper mid-range segment: it is not relying on raw speed alone. Xiaomi has paired the phone’s performance-first identity with a Sony 50MP main camera, OIS, and 4K 60fps video recording, giving the device a broader appeal than many gaming-focused rivals.
That combination is aimed at users who want a fast phone without giving up camera quality, battery life, or display comfort. Xiaomi also appears to be positioning the model for younger buyers, mobile gamers, and people who create content on their phones.
Camera setup built for more than quick snapshots
The main camera uses a 50MP Sony IMX882 sensor with Optical Image Stabilization. That should help keep both photos and videos steadier, especially in everyday shooting conditions where hand movement can affect the result.
Video capture is another highlight, with support for recording up to 4K at 60fps. Xiaomi also includes an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 20MP front camera, giving the Redmi Turbo 5 a practical multi-camera setup for casual photography, selfies, and video calls.
Performance remains the core identity
Under the hood, the Redmi Turbo 5 runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra, paired with LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. Xiaomi says the phone can handle more than 20 popular games at frame rates of up to 120fps.
To keep thermal performance under control, the device uses a 5300 mm² vapor chamber cooling system. A rear RGB light is also part of the design, and it can be used for notifications, incoming calls, and music sync.
Display and audio stay firmly in entertainment territory
The phone features a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It also supports Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and up to 68 billion colors, while peak brightness reaches 3,500 nits for better visibility in bright outdoor conditions.
Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protects the panel, adding a layer of durability for daily use. For audio, Xiaomi has equipped the Redmi Turbo 5 with stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos support, which should help when gaming or streaming video.
Battery life is one of its biggest selling points
One of the most striking specifications is the 7,540mAh battery. Despite that capacity, Xiaomi has kept the body relatively slim at 8.18mm, which gives the phone a more balanced profile than many large-battery devices.
The charging setup is equally ambitious, with 100W fast charging and 27W reverse charging. That means the Redmi Turbo 5 can not only refill quickly, but also share power with other devices when needed.
Software, pricing, and market position
Out of the box, Redmi Turbo 5 runs Android 16 with HyperOS 3. Xiaomi is also promising four years of operating system updates and six years of security patches, a support policy that adds long-term value to the package.
In India, pricing starts at Rs 37,999 for the 8GB/256GB version, while the 12GB/256GB model is listed at Rs 40,999. Sales begin on 19 June 2026, with launch offers including bank cashback, a buyback program, and a Spotify Premium bonus.
With that mix of a Sony 50MP OIS camera, 4K 60fps video, Dimensity 8500 Ultra performance, a 120Hz AMOLED panel, and a 7,540mAh battery, Redmi Turbo 5 is being framed as a device that tries to cover gaming, media, and photography in one aggressive mid-range package.
