Casio has expanded its Vintage line in the United States with the A140WE series, a move that broadens access to one of its most affordable metal digital watches. The release follows the model’s recent launch in the UK and its earlier debut in Japan in early May.
The most noticeable change is the design direction. Compared with older Vintage models that often lean sharper and more angular, the A140WE uses a rounder and calmer look that keeps the classic Casio identity intact while softening the overall presentation.
Three variants with distinct finishes
The A140WE lineup includes three versions, each with a different visual character. The A140WE-8A pairs a gray sunray dial with a silver case, while the A140WE-2A uses a dark blue dial with the same silver finish.
The third model, A140WEG-9A, stands apart with gold-ion plating on the resin case and a light gold dial. Pricing starts at $110 for the two silver models, while the gold-toned version is listed at $130.
| Model | Dial | Case Finish | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| A140WE-8A | Gray sunray | Silver | $110 |
| A140WE-2A | Dark blue | Silver | $110 |
| A140WEG-9A | Light gold | Gold-ion plated resin | $130 |
Shared build and proportions
All three watches use the same core construction. Their resin case measures 39 x 36.8 mm and is 10.4 mm thick, while the total weight is 60 grams.
Casio also fits each model with a multi-row stainless steel bracelet finished with vertical hairline brushing. The adjustable clasp is designed to help the watch sit more evenly on the wrist.
Simple functions, long battery life
Functionally, the A140WE stays close to the essentials. It runs on a CR2016 battery rated for up to seven years, and it includes a blue EL backlight along with basic water resistance.
That formula places the series in an unusual spot within Casio’s Vintage family. The metal bracelet gives it a more premium feel than many entry-level models that still rely on resin straps, while the pricing remains well below the brand’s higher-positioned metal F-series.
With the A140WE now available through Casio’s US website and authorized retailers, the series gives buyers a softer-looking alternative in the brand’s digital watch catalog without changing the affordable formula that defines the Vintage line.
