Honkai Star Rail 4.4 Brings Fate/stay night, with a Free Gilgamesh or Archer Choice

Honkai: Star Rail Version 4.4 is shaping up to be one of the game’s most content-heavy updates, led by the second phase of the Fate/stay night crossover and a free character choice for players. HoYoverse confirmed the global launch of the patch, titled “In Ravages Does the Whistle Sound,” for 15 July 2026.

The update also pushes the story forward in Planarcadia, where the main conflict reaches a climactic three-phase duel against Lord Ravager Asat Pramad. The encounter features tracking missile attacks and heavy energy strikes, setting a more intense tone for the version’s headline content.

Phase 1 centers on Himeko-Nova

The first wave of Version 4.4 begins with Himeko-Nova, a five-star Fire Erudition character arriving on 15 July 2026. She uses a special territory boundary and calls in a giant mech named Starblazer to deliver coordinated follow-up attacks.

Her kit is not designed for solo pressure alone, as every teammate receives support skills that help control Starblazer. For active Astral Express members, HoYoverse has also added extra status adjustments that set their battlefield roles apart.

That same opening phase also includes reruns for Dan Heng: Permansor Terrae, March 7th: Evernight, and Sparkle. The lineup gives players several familiar options if they are chasing a specific team setup.

Fate/stay night takes over in Phase 2

The second phase opens on 24 July 2026 with the Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works collaboration. In the special event, players assist Rin Tohsaka as she investigates the Imagenae Holy Grail War.

Two collaboration banners arrive alongside the event. Rin Tohsaka appears as a five-star Quantum Erudition character with Bajiquan attacks and the Jewel Sword Zelretch, while Gilgamesh joins as a five-star Lightning Destruction unit built around Gate of Babylon after he fills a special Interest gauge.

The crossover stands out because it folds two iconic Fate/stay night characters into a new event structure rather than treating them as a simple banner add-on. That makes the update notable both for its story content and for the roster changes it introduces.

A free Gilgamesh or Archer reward is also included

HoYoverse will let all players claim either Gilgamesh or Archer for free through a distribution event. The claim is available by logging into the game client between 24 July 2026 and the end of the Version 4.6 patch cycle.

The reward also includes localized character upgrade materials, which should help players put the collaboration unit into use more quickly. In addition, players who spend a total of 200 Star Rail Special Passes during the Version 4.4 cycle can earn a free five-star collaboration Light Cone.

The Light Cone reward comes with two choices, “I Am as You Behold” or “The Hell Where Ideals Burn.” That gives the collaboration another layer of value for players planning to invest heavily during the patch window.

More rewards and quality-of-life changes round out the patch

Version 4.4 also adds a 10-pull login reward and a mini-game called Antigraft Brick Buster. These additions sit alongside the main banner schedule and help broaden the patch beyond its headline crossover content.

On the systems side, HoYoverse is introducing quick level-up features for characters and Light Cones. The update also brings a unified search system and one-click claim functionality for the achievements interface.

Sparkle receives a cosmetic outfit named Candy-Coated Waves, which will be sold in the shop. The Special Program also showed a new UI menu, character model animations, and the crossover combat system planned for the update.

With a major collaboration, a free character choice, banner reruns, and several usability upgrades, Honkai: Star Rail Version 4.4 is positioned as a packed release for players following HoYoverse’s live-service schedule.
