iPhone 18 Pro Max Battery Leak Points to Apple’s Biggest Cell Yet

Apple’s next Pro Max model may be headed for a major battery milestone. A 3C certification listing suggests that the iPhone 18 Pro Max could carry the largest battery ever used in an iPhone, at least in the eSIM-only version sold in the United States.

The same document also indicates that Apple may again split battery capacities between models with a physical SIM tray and those built for eSIM only. That difference appears to come from the extra internal space available when the SIM tray is removed.

Battery figures spotted in the 3C filing

For the iPhone 18 Pro, the listing points to 4,056mAh for the China version with a physical SIM slot and 4,288mAh for the U.S. eSIM-only version. On the iPhone 18 Pro Max, the stated capacities rise to 5,391mAh for China and 5,567mAh for the U.S.

ModelChina VersionU.S. Version
iPhone 18 Pro4,056mAh4,288mAh
iPhone 18 Pro Max5,391mAh5,567mAh

If those numbers prove accurate, the U.S. iPhone 18 Pro Max would set a new record for battery size in Apple’s smartphone lineup. That would make endurance one of the clearest selling points of the next Pro series.

Modest gains for Pro, bigger jump for Pro Max

The iPhone 18 Pro appears to be getting only a small battery increase compared with the iPhone 17 Pro. Last year’s model was listed at 3,988mAh in China and 4,252mAh in the U.S., leaving the new version with gains of just 68mAh and 36mAh, respectively.

The Pro Max is where the larger change appears. Compared with the iPhone 17 Pro Max, the new model is said to gain close to 500mAh, giving Apple more room to improve all-day battery life.

That approach fits Apple’s long-running strategy of pairing moderate battery increases with efficiency gains from hardware and software. In practice, even a limited capacity increase can matter if the rest of the system uses less power.

A20 Pro, 2nm fabrication, and wider upgrades

Another major rumor surrounding the lineup is the Apple A20 Pro chip, which is expected to use a 2nm process. That could bring both stronger performance and lower power consumption.

The Pro models are also tipped to come with 12GB of RAM and iOS 27. Together with the larger battery, those changes could make the iPhone 18 Pro series a more balanced upgrade than a single-spec bump.

Display and camera leaks point in the same direction. The iPhone 18 Pro is expected to use a 6.3-inch OLED panel, while the Pro Max may stretch to 6.9 inches, both with a triple 48MP camera system.

Apple is also said to be preparing a periscope telephoto lens and a variable aperture main camera. Another possible change is a smaller Dynamic Island, tied to efforts to move more Face ID components under the display.

Launch window and expected pricing

Apple is widely expected to unveil the iPhone 18 lineup in its traditional September 2026 launch event. The range is said to include the iPhone 18, iPhone 18 Air, iPhone 18 Pro, and iPhone 18 Pro Max.

No official pricing has been announced, but early analyst estimates place the iPhone 18 Pro at US$999 in the U.S. and the iPhone 18 Pro Max at US$1,199. In India, the iPhone 18 Pro is expected to start at ₹1,29,900, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max could begin at ₹1,64,900.

For now, the 3C filing offers the clearest early signal that Apple is prioritizing battery endurance alongside performance. If the leaked capacities hold, the iPhone 18 Pro Max could become the most battery-focused iPhone Apple has ever made.
