A new discount tied to Google One is giving some YouTube Premium subscribers a way to soften the impact of the service’s higher price. The offer cuts YouTube Premium by 50%, but it is only available to select Google One Premium members on the 2TB plan or above.
The timing matters because YouTube Premium has reportedly increased by $2 per month, bringing the new rate to $15.99 per month. For users already paying for Google’s storage and subscription ecosystem, the bundled benefit may make the overall monthly cost easier to manage.
Who can access the offer
According to a report from 9to5Google, the discount is limited to Google One Premium subscribers who meet a specific requirement. The key threshold is a Google One plan with 2TB of storage or more, which means the promotion is aimed at users already spending more than $10 per month on Google One.
The benefit is also restricted by region. It is said to be available only in the United States, Canada, Japan, Brazil, France, and Germany.
How existing subscribers are expected to claim it
The process is not automatic for people who already have an active YouTube Premium subscription. Existing subscribers must cancel their current plan first and then sign up again through the promotional link inside Google One.
That step matters because the discount has to be activated through the Google One benefit flow. If the subscription is not restarted that way, the lower price will not apply, even if the user otherwise qualifies.
For new users, the path is more direct. They can open Google One, go to the Benefits section, select YouTube Premium, and add the subscription from there.
How long the savings last
The discount is not open-ended. 9to5Google says the promotional offer ends on 29 April 2026, and the reduced rate lasts for one year only.
After that period, the subscription returns to the regular price. That makes the offer useful for short-term savings, but it also means subscribers need to keep the normal rate in mind when planning future expenses.
What the offer means after the price increase
A higher monthly fee often forces users to rethink whether a paid streaming subscription is still worth it. In that context, a 50% discount stands out as a meaningful benefit, especially for people who already use Google One’s higher-tier storage plans.
YouTube Premium continues to include features that remain important for many subscribers. Those include ad-free viewing, offline downloads on supported devices, and, on some plans, access to YouTube Music.
With the new regular price at $15.99 per month, the promotional cut brings the effective cost down significantly during the first year. Even so, the terms around re-enrollment mean that current subscribers need to take extra steps before they can benefit from the lower rate.
A cheaper option exists for some users
