Oppo has re-entered the compact tablet segment with the Pad Mini, a device that pairs an 8.8-inch AMOLED display with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. The combination places the tablet in a more premium position than many small-format rivals, which often prioritize portability over deeper hardware capabilities.
The Pad Mini is aimed at users who want something easy to carry without giving up enough screen quality and performance for entertainment, reading, work, and gaming. Oppo also offers a matte screen option, a detail that may matter for users who prefer lower reflections during long viewing or work sessions.
A compact display with uncommon specifications
The front of the Oppo Pad Mini is built around an 8.8-inch AMOLED panel with a 2,520 x 1,680 pixel resolution. Its 3:2 aspect ratio gives the display more horizontal space, which can be useful for documents and content browsing.
The screen also supports an adaptive refresh rate from 60Hz to 144Hz. Thin 2.99 mm bezels help the display feel larger, while an 8MP front camera is placed inside a punch-hole cutout to keep the front design clean.
The matte display option extends the device’s appeal beyond standard glossy tablet panels. It follows the same direction seen on the Pro version and is positioned for users who work under varied lighting conditions.
Performance is built around Snapdragon 8 Gen 5
Under the hood, Oppo uses the non-Elite Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, paired with LPDDR5X RAM of up to 12GB and UFS 4.1 internal storage of up to 512GB. That hardware setup signals that the tablet is not meant to rely on compact size alone.
Instead, the Pad Mini is presented as a small device that can still handle demanding multimedia tasks and gaming. The memory and storage configuration also places it in a more premium bracket within the compact tablet category.
Battery and software aim at daily use
Oppo equips the Pad Mini with an 8,000mAh battery, supported by 67W fast charging. In practical terms, that gives the device a strong position for users who need a tablet that can move with them through the day.
The device runs Android 16 with ColorOS 16 on top. That software setup suggests Oppo is targeting a modern user experience that matches the hardware level of the tablet.
Cameras and finishes stay straightforward
On the back, the tablet carries a single 13MP camera with LED flash. The setup keeps the focus on general tablet use rather than on advanced photography features.
Oppo offers the Pad Mini in three color options: Space Gray, Purple, and Green. The choices keep the design simple while still giving buyers some room for personal preference.
Pricing and availability in China
In China, the 8GB/256GB model sells for 3,699 yuan or around Rp8,5 juta. The higher 12GB/512GB variant is priced at 4,499 yuan or around Rp10,4 juta.
The tablet is already available through Oppo’s official online store in China and went on sale starting 24 April 2026. With its AMOLED display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, 8,000mAh battery, and matte screen option, the Oppo Pad Mini positions itself as a compact tablet built to offer more than size alone.
