PUBG Mobile is preparing a major shake-up with Version 4.4, titled Hero’s Crown, which arrives on iOS and Android on May 12. The update pushes Erangel into a mythological Greek and Roman setting, while also adding a PvE boss, a new weapon, a new vehicle, and a Blue Lock anime crossover that follows a few weeks later.
The changes go far beyond a visual refresh. Familiar parts of Erangel are being redesigned in a way that can alter how squads open matches, read firing lines, and plan rotations from the first minutes of a game.
Erangel takes on a mythological identity
Several key locations on the map are getting new visual and structural elements. Yasnaya Polyana, Ruins, Ferry Pier, and Mylta are among the areas that now feature marble pillars, Olympian temples, gladiator barracks, and war banners.
That redesign changes the pace of play as well. Hot drop timing and old sightlines are no longer exactly the same, which means squads need to adjust positioning and survival decisions more quickly than before.
Nimbus Island becomes the main attraction
The most eye-catching addition in the update is Nimbus Island, a floating hotspot called Crown’s Abode. It offers top-tier loot, extra revive opportunities, and two new active abilities that can shift a fight in an instant.
Heart of Fury provides a combat boost, while Spartan Flag expands the team buff zone. The location is also home to a Centaur boss fight, which sits at the center of the challenge and must be cleared within three minutes to earn rare loot and unique rewards.
Progression gets a myth-themed structure
PUBG Mobile is also adding Divine Trials as a main progression path. Four myth-inspired trials named Achilles, Spartan, Icarus, and Griffin are spread across the map and can be completed to collect Glory Medals.
Those medals carry over across matches and are required to unlock exclusive seasonal rewards from the update. That setup shifts some of the focus away from only winning matches and toward hitting specific objectives during each game.
New mobility and weapon changes may affect the meta
Version 4.4 also introduces the Chariot, a new vehicle powered by a fire horse. It has a top speed of 85 km/h and can briefly hover when fully charged, giving squads more flexibility in open areas.
On the weapon side, the M1 Garand joins as a new sniper rifle. PUBG Mobile is also making broad balance changes that could reshape loadouts, with sniper rifles receiving a major buff through the removal of long-range damage reduction.
Assault rifles are taking a hit in long-distance fights, while shotguns are also being adjusted through changes to armor damage and pellet spread. That combination may push more players toward different weapon choices, especially in modes where mid-range and long-range duels happen often.
Premium cosmetics and May events round out the update
For players looking at cosmetics, Gilt Set is one of the main premium highlights. The Spartan Conqueror-themed outfit arrives alongside an upgradable weapon skin.
May will also be packed with events. Ranked Season 30 begins on May 13, the Ford Motor Cruise collaboration lands the same day, and the Harley-Davidson collaboration follows on May 15.
The next major crossover comes on May 22 with Blue Lock. That event brings skins for Yoichi Isagi, Seishiro Nagi, Meguru Bachira, and Rin Itoshi through a Prize Path system priced at 500 UC, while early login access opens Blue Lock rewards from May 14.
