Samsung may be preparing to turn Galaxy Unpacked into more than a stage for foldables. A report from SEDaily says the company could introduce its first Galaxy smart glasses in July 2026, possibly alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide.
That timeline would mark a notable shift in how Samsung frames its biggest product event. Instead of treating AI wearables as a side story next to phones and watches, Samsung appears ready to place them much closer to the center of its Galaxy strategy.
A new push into XR
The smart glasses are also another sign that Samsung is taking extended reality, or XR, more seriously. Earlier reports said the company was working on three Galaxy glass models for 2026, even though Samsung has not formally announced a move into the smart glasses category.
That absence of an official unveiling has not slowed down the flow of leaks. The details that have surfaced so far already outline the direction Samsung seems to be taking, from the shape of the device to the platform and hardware it may use.
If the July 2026 plan holds, the launch would broaden the Galaxy lineup beyond phones, watches, and foldables. It would also give Samsung a new kind of wearable that is meant to be worn throughout the day, not just carried or checked occasionally.
Design and platform hints
Earlier leaks point to a Wayfarer-like design similar to Meta Ray-Ban. That choice suggests Samsung may want the product to look familiar and everyday rather than highly futuristic or bulky.
That design approach matters in the smart glasses market. A frame that resembles normal eyewear is often easier for mainstream users to accept, especially those who are not already interested in XR devices.
The platform side is just as important. The glasses are said to run on Android XR, which would place them within a wider Android ecosystem and give Samsung a more connected foundation for future XR products.
On the hardware side, the device is reported to use a custom Snapdragon AR1 chipset. The chip is said to be aimed at smoother integration with Samsung’s connected device ecosystem.
Hardware details that have surfaced
Several other specifications have also appeared in leaks. One of the key components is a 12 MP Sony IMX-681 camera, which could support visual functions, quick capture, and AI features that rely on environmental input.
Audio is said to use bone-conduction technology. That would allow wearers to hear sound without fully blocking the ear, a format that fits outdoor and all-day use because it keeps the surrounding environment audible.
Battery capacity is listed at 155mAh. That figure points to a compact design focus and suggests Samsung may be prioritizing comfort and wearability, even though real-world endurance remains unknown.
Multiple models and a tentative price range
Samsung is also said to have three devices in development, carrying the model numbers SM-O200P, SM-O200J, and SM-O500. It is not yet clear which version would appear first at Unpacked, although one model may serve as the starting point for the others that follow.
Pricing rumors place the smart glasses somewhere between $379 and $499. That range would position them as premium consumer wearables rather than experimental hardware priced far outside the mainstream.
If Samsung does unveil the glasses at Galaxy Unpacked, the event could shift in tone significantly. What has long been a showcase for foldables and smartwatches may instead become a larger platform for Samsung’s AI wearable ambitions, with smart glasses taking a more visible role in the company’s next phase.
