Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ Teased Ahead of Launch, Flipkart Highlights 85mm Portrait Camera

Motorola’s next Edge 70 series device is starting to take shape, and the strongest clue so far is not a chipset or battery spec, but a camera feature. Flipkart’s promotional page has put the spotlight on an 85mm portrait lens, making the upcoming model stand out as a phone that appears to prioritize portrait photography above all else.

The device is widely pointing toward Edge 70 Pro+, even though Motorola has not named it directly in the teaser posted on Motorola India’s X account. That naming, combined with Flipkart’s page URL that explicitly mentions Edge 70 Pro+, leaves little room for doubt about which model is being prepared for launch.

A premium slot in an already crowded lineup

The new model matters because the Edge 70 family already includes four phones: Edge 70, Edge 70 Pro, Edge 70 Fusion, and Edge 70 Fusion+. Edge 70 Pro+ would add another premium option to that group and give Motorola a sharper ladder within the series.

Its positioning also suggests a gap-filling role. The current lineup already spreads across multiple tiers, and this new variant appears intended to sit in the higher-end part of the family rather than as a simple cosmetic refresh.

The camera angle is the main message

Flipkart’s highlight of an 85mm portrait capability is the most revealing detail in the campaign so far. An 85mm focal length is closely associated with portrait shooting, since it usually helps produce a more natural look and cleaner subject separation.

That emphasis indicates Motorola is not only launching another Edge model, but also shaping a clear identity for it. The focus on portrait performance suggests the company wants the Edge 70 Pro+ to be seen as a more photography-driven premium phone.

The teaser imagery reinforces that direction by keeping attention on the rear camera area. That choice makes the camera story feel deliberate rather than incidental, especially with the portrait angle now being pushed as a core selling point.

Design cues point to a familiar direction

The device shown in the teaser appears to share a strong design resemblance with the global Edge 70 Pro, finished in Pantone Zinfandel. The camera module and the area around the flash also look similar, including the text placement near the flash section.

That visual link is important because it suggests the Edge 70 Pro+ may be closer to the global Edge 70 Pro than to the India-only Edge 70 Pro. The global version is known to include wireless charging and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera, while the India model lacks both wireless charging and a telephoto camera.

Motorola’s global Edge 70 Pro also uses a periscope telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom. It is paired with 50X “Super Zoom Pro,” OIS, and an equivalent focal length of 81mm.

Three finishes, one premium strategy

Flipkart has also revealed three finish options for the Edge 70 Pro+. The choices are satin-luxe finish, twill-inspired finish, and sculpted wood finish.

Those materials and textures show that Motorola is still leaning on design identity as part of the Edge formula. Satin-luxe finish suggests a smoother premium look, twill-inspired finish introduces a textile-like pattern, and sculpted wood finish gives the phone a more distinctive appearance than most mainstream flagships.

The Pantone Zinfandel shade shown in the teaser fits that broader strategy. Rather than relying only on hardware upgrades, Motorola appears to be pairing the device with a visual and tactile identity that aims to stand out on shelves and in promotional material.

Launch is getting closer

The combination of Motorola’s teaser and Flipkart’s dedicated promotional page usually signals that a launch is not far away. No release date has been announced yet, but the current level of promotion suggests more details should arrive soon.

For now, the story around Edge 70 Pro+ is built on three clear signals: a design that echoes the global Edge 70 Pro, an 85mm portrait focus, and a set of premium finishes. Those clues are enough to make the upcoming model one of the more interesting additions to Motorola’s Edge 70 lineup.
