Galaxy S27 Pro Could Bring Ultra-Level Appeal To A Smaller Body, Without S Pen

Samsung’s next flagship cycle may be getting more crowded, and the most interesting addition could be the one built for people who want a smaller phone without giving up a premium feel. Reports indicate that the company is preparing a Galaxy S27 Pro as a new middle position in the lineup, with design and feature choices meant to sit between the regular model and the Ultra.

That move would mark a notable shift for Samsung’s premium family. Instead of relying on three models, the company is said to be planning four Galaxy S27 variants, giving it more room to separate compact flagships from larger, feature-heavy devices.

A smaller screen in the premium tier

ETNews says the Galaxy S27 Pro will use a 6.47-inch OLED panel. That size places it between the regular Galaxy S27 and the Galaxy S27+, while also making it one of the most compact options in Samsung’s premium range.

The display would also be smaller than the 6.7-inch panel on the Galaxy S26+ and the 6.9-inch screen on the Galaxy S26 Ultra. At the same time, it would still be slightly larger than the 6.3-inch display on the regular Galaxy S26, giving the Pro a clear position in the middle of the lineup.

ETNews also notes that the 6.47-inch size is something Samsung Electronics has not fully tried before. That detail suggests the company may be testing a new formula for users who want a more manageable flagship without moving all the way down to a base model.

Ultra-like character, but no S Pen

The clearest theme around the Galaxy S27 Pro is that it may borrow most of the advanced traits associated with the Galaxy S27 Ultra. Even so, Samsung is not expected to include S Pen support on the Pro model.

That combination points to a deliberate strategy. Samsung appears to be aiming for a device that feels premium and close to the Ultra experience, but without the larger body that usually comes with its most advanced phone.

No deeper technical details have been confirmed so far. For now, the available information only outlines the Pro model’s size and its likely place in the broader flagship family.

What a smaller body could change

A more compact design almost always affects the internal layout, and the Galaxy S27 Pro is expected to face that same constraint. Samsung may need to adjust both battery capacity and camera configuration so they fit within the smaller dimensions.

If Samsung does not use a technology such as silicon-carbon batteries, the Pro’s battery capacity is said to land above the regular version but still below the Ultra. That would fit the model’s intended role as a middle-tier flagship rather than a direct rival to the top-end device.

A source familiar with the plan says Samsung is taking the fourth model seriously. The company has explored a similar direction before, but the Galaxy S26 Edge project was canceled, and Samsung ultimately settled for only a minor refresh for the Galaxy S25+.

Four flagships in one generation

If the plan holds, Samsung’s 2027 flagship family would include the Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27+, Galaxy S27 Pro, and Galaxy S27 Ultra. That would give the company a wider spread of sizes and feature levels than it has used in recent generations.

The four-phone lineup is currently expected to arrive at the beginning of 2027. More details about the specifications and features of each device are likely to surface over the coming months, but the Galaxy S27 Pro is already emerging as the model drawing the most attention.
