Vivo V80 Enters IMEI Tracking, While Vivo S2 Signals A Return Of The S Series To India After 7 Years

Two Vivo models have quietly surfaced in the GSMA IMEI database, and that alone is enough to suggest the company is lining up more than one important move. The names Vivo V80 and Vivo S2 now appear in the registry, pointing to devices that are likely moving closer to launch preparation.

The two listings also tell very different stories. Vivo V80 appears to be headed toward a broader global rollout, while Vivo S2 may mark the return of the S series to India after a long gap since the Vivo S1 arrived in 2019.

Vivo V80 enters the global conversation

PassionateGeekz reports that the Vivo V80 has been recorded in the IMEI database with model number V2630. The listing does not reveal hardware details, but it does show that the device has already gone through an international registration step.

That is notable because the V series remains one of Vivo’s core product lines in many markets. With models such as the Vivo V70, V70 Elite, and V70 FE already in the lineup, the appearance of the V80 suggests the next update cycle is beginning to take shape.

The V80 is also being linked with the global version of the Vivo S60. That model is expected to launch first in China, which means the V80 may carry a different identity for markets outside China.

What is expected from the Vivo S60

Leaks around the Vivo S60 point to a device with a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset. It is also said to feature a 6.59-inch OLED display with 1.5K resolution.

Battery life could be one of its biggest talking points. The device is rumored to pack a 7,000mAh battery with 90W fast charging, a combination that would make it stand out in its class.

The camera setup is also expected to lean premium. Vivo is said to be preparing a periscope telephoto camera based on a Sony IMX8 series sensor, along with an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.

Other rumored details make the phone sound even more upscale. The Vivo S60 is said to use a premium metal frame and carry IP68/IP69 dust and water resistance.

A familiar name returns in another market

At the same time, GSMA IMEI records also show a Vivo S2 with model number V2576. That name stands out because Vivo’s S series has not been active in India since the Vivo S1 launched in 2019.

If the S2 does make it to India, it is expected to target the mid-range segment. Its direction is said to stay true to the S series formula, with a stylish design and a camera-focused experience at the center.

That would give Vivo another distinct layer in its portfolio. The company already uses the X series for flagships, the V series for photography-focused phones, the T series for gaming and multitasking, and the Y series for entry-level and budget buyers.

No official confirmation yet

Vivo has not said anything officially about the timing of either the Vivo V80 or the Vivo S2. Even so, IMEI appearances usually indicate that launch preparations are progressing.

For now, the two devices point in different directions for the brand. One looks set to extend the V series beyond China through a global identity, while the other could reopen the S series chapter in India after a seven-year pause.
