The model is now associated with the name iQOO 16 and the model number I2601, a combination that usually signals a phone is moving closer to formal introduction.
That listing matters because it does more than confirm a name. It also strengthens the idea that iQOO is preparing the device not only for China, but also for India and global markets, which would make this launch wider in scope than a regional release.
IMEI activity points to a more advanced stage
Phones often surface in IMEI databases well before they are announced, but the latest appearance of iQOO 16 suggests the project has progressed beyond a simple early mention. A previous listing in April had already pointed to the device, although its model number was not revealed at that time.
This newer entry changes that. According to PassionateGeekz, the IMEI database now ties the handset to I2601 and explicitly identifies it as iQOO 16, which is usually a stronger sign that the product identity is already settled internally.
