TCL’s latest gaming monitor for the FFALCON line is making its case with a specification set that is still uncommon in the affordable Full HD category. The 24.5-inch Thunderbird 25Q5A pairs a 1080p panel with a 300Hz refresh rate and Mini LED backlighting, while selling in China for 839 yuan on JD.com.
The model is also sold under the 2026 FFALCON F6 name, signaling that TCL is positioning it as a fast-paced gaming display with a more aggressive value proposition than most monitors in this segment. That combination matters because high refresh rates are already common in gaming monitors, but Mini LED and HDR 600 at this price level remain far less usual.
Mini LED enters a budget 1080p monitor
The most distinctive part of the Thunderbird 25Q5A is its Mini LED backlight. TCL gives the monitor 84 local dimming zones, a setup meant to improve brightness control and raise contrast compared with conventional models in the same price range.
TCL also pairs the backlight system with VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification. Peak brightness is said to reach 600 nits, which helps the panel produce a stronger HDR presentation than many standard Full HD gaming monitors.
Built for fast competitive play
Under the hood, TCL uses a Fast IPS panel from CSOT with a 1920 x 1080 resolution. The monitor runs at a native 300Hz refresh rate and can go up to 303Hz in certain scenarios.
Response time is listed at 1ms GtG, a figure aimed at reducing blur and ghosting during rapid movement. For tear-free gaming, TCL includes AMD FreeSync Premium support and Nvidia G-Sync compatibility.
The company also adds an MPRT-Plus backlight control system. TCL says it combines motion interpolation and zone-based lighting to further suppress blur during fast gameplay.
Color performance is not treated as an afterthought
Although the monitor is clearly aimed at esports-style speed, TCL still gives color coverage a meaningful role. The panel covers 99% of the sRGB gamut and 93% of DCI-P3.
Thunderobot says each unit is factory calibrated. The target is Delta E below 2, so color reproduction should stay within a professional baseline right out of the box.
That makes the 25Q5A more flexible than a simple budget gaming screen. It can also serve users who watch HDR content or handle light visual work without moving to a more expensive display class.
Adjustability and ports stay straightforward
On the physical side, TCL includes a fully adjustable stand. The monitor supports 125 mm of height adjustment, tilt from -5 degrees to 15 degrees, swivel of ±20 degrees, and pivot of ±90 degrees for vertical use.
It also supports standard VESA wall mounting. Those options make it easier to use in a gaming setup, a work desk arrangement, or a multi-monitor layout.
Connectivity is kept simple with HDMI, DisplayPort, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. TCL appears to have limited extra features so the focus stays on the panel, the refresh rate, and the lighting system.
The result is a monitor that stands out in a crowded market by bringing Mini LED and HDR 600 into a more affordable Full HD gaming package. It arrives as TCL pushes the Thunderbird name toward speed-first monitors, while still leaving room for better contrast and more serious color performance than most budget rivals.
