The next iPhone Pro Max is already drawing attention for a reason that goes beyond cameras and chips. Leaks around the iPhone 18 Pro Max now point to a larger display, a taller body, and a slimmer overall profile that could change how the device feels in hand.
The biggest headline is the screen size. The iPhone 18 Pro is said to come with a 6.4-inch display, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max may stretch to 7 inches, a jump that would make the larger model stand out more sharply from previous generations.
That rumored shift matters because it suggests Apple is not only adjusting internal hardware. The company may also be reworking the proportions of the phone itself, which could have a direct effect on grip comfort and accessory compatibility.
Images shared by leaker @MajinBuOfficial have also fueled the discussion. Those visuals reportedly show dimensions that look different from the current shape, and Abhishek Yadav later added that both Pro models will be taller and slimmer.
A change in ratio like that would be more than a cosmetic update. If the body becomes narrower and taller, older cases are unlikely to fit properly, which means accessories designed for earlier models could quickly become outdated.
That direction is notably different from an earlier wave of speculation. Max Tech previously showed a dummy-unit simulation of the iPhone 18 that suggested only small changes, mainly around the camera module.
In that simulation, the lenses were described as slightly larger, while the phone body itself looked almost unchanged. The video even gave the impression that some iPhone 17 cases might still work on the iPhone 18.
The newer leak paints a much more aggressive picture. Instead of preserving a familiar shape, Apple appears to be considering a stronger redesign that moves the Pro line away from the safer design language often associated with the company.
Outside of design, the A20 Pro chip is another major point of interest. It is said to be Apple’s first chip built on TSMC’s 2nm process, a move that would increase transistor density while lowering power consumption.
On paper, that kind of manufacturing advance can improve performance, battery efficiency, and thermal management. For many everyday users, though, the difference may not feel dramatic in routine tasks.
That is partly because the A19 Pro in the iPhone 17 is already described as extremely powerful for gaming, 4K video recording, and AI processing. The A20 Pro may therefore matter more to professionals and content creators than to casual users.
Camera upgrades are also expected to remain part of Apple’s pitch. While the technical details are still limited, analysts believe improvements could arrive in low-light photography, optical zoom, and AI-based image processing.
New color options are also expected to return, following Apple’s usual pattern of refreshing the lineup without making radical changes to the basic product formula. The frame material is said to remain aluminum across the iPhone 18 series.
Some users are still hoping for better resistance to surface wear and fading, concerns that have been linked with the iPhone 17. For now, though, the final form of the iPhone 18 Pro Max remains unresolved.
The rumors continue to sit between two very different outcomes: a model that keeps close to the old size, or one that shifts to a new display ratio altogether. That uncertainty is part of why the iPhone 18 line is already becoming one of the most discussed unreleased devices.
