vivo’s new S60 lineup is built to make a mid-range phone feel less like a compromise and more like a complete daily device. With a 144Hz OLED display, a 7,200mAh battery, a 50MP front camera, and AI-assisted imaging features, the series pushes strongly into the territory usually associated with more premium models.
The launch in China includes two models: vivo S60 and vivo S60 Vitality Edition. Both aim to balance entertainment, photography, and endurance in a crowded mid-range market where those three factors often decide buying interest.
Display first, with a focus on smooth daily use
The vivo S60 uses a flat 6.59-inch display with 1,260p resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. That setup is meant to deliver smoother scrolling, gaming, and media playback, while also giving the phone a more premium feel in everyday use.
High refresh-rate screens remain one of the clearest differences users can notice in this category. In that sense, the S60 is positioned not just as a spec-heavy device, but as one built around visible comfort and fluidity.
Selfie camera stays consistent across both models
Both phones come with a 50MP front camera. vivo is clearly treating the selfie camera as a key selling point, especially for portrait shots and video calls that need a cleaner result.
The rear camera setup is where the two models diverge. The vivo S60 includes a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a Sony IMX882 50MP periscope telephoto camera with up to 3x optical zoom.
A simpler rear setup for the Vitality Edition
The vivo S60 Vitality Edition keeps a more compact configuration on the back. It uses a 50MP main camera and an 8MP ultrawide camera, but leaves out the telephoto lens.
That difference makes the Vitality Edition the more straightforward option in the series. It also gives vivo a clearer way to separate the premium-leaning model from the more affordable one.
AI features are a major part of the pitch
The S60 series also leans heavily on AI-based photography tools. Both devices support 4K Live Photo recording and include new creative effects designed to make photos and videos more expressive.
Among the highlighted features is “Cool White Portrait,” which is designed to produce portraits with a cleaner and more natural color tone. vivo also adds Live Color Grading for adjusting Live Photo colors, plus “Starlight Live,” an effect that introduces dynamic sparkle to brighter areas.
One of the more unusual tools is “3D Spatial Visual Effects.” It allows Live Photo content to appear with a three-dimensional effect without special glasses, with motion effects that show up when the device is tilted or shaken.
Big battery, fast charging, and strong protection
Battery life is another area where vivo is pushing the series upward. Both phones carry a 7,200mAh battery, a capacity designed to support longer daily use without frequent charging.
When power does run low, the series supports 90W fast charging. The two devices also carry IP68 and IP69 certification, which means they are built to handle dust and high-pressure water splashes more confidently.
Different chipsets, same premium-inspired design language
Inside the vivo S60 is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. The Vitality Edition uses MediaTek Dimensity 7500 instead, keeping performance competitive while separating the two models by platform as well as by camera hardware.
Design also plays into the premium impression. Both phones use a glass back with cold-carved glass processing and a metal frame, while color options include the “Starry Sea” theme with a textured reflective effect, along with Early Summer Green and Midsummer Night.
Pricing in China
In China, the vivo S60 starts at 3,599 yuan for the 12GB/256GB version. The top configuration, 16GB/512GB, is priced at 4,399 yuan.
The vivo S60 Vitality Edition starts at 2,899 yuan for the 8GB/256GB model. Its 12GB/512GB variant is sold for 3,499 yuan, giving buyers a lower-priced entry into the S60 family without giving up the core battery and display formula.
vivo has not announced any global release plans or availability for Indonesia so far. Even so, the combination of a 144Hz display, a 7,200mAh battery, 50MP cameras, and aggressive AI features makes the S60 series one of the more attention-grabbing mid-range launches from the brand.
