Vertu AlphaFold Marries AI, Satellite Connectivity, and 24-Hour Human Concierge Support

Vertu has taken its luxury-first approach to an even higher level with AlphaFold, its first book-style foldable smartphone. The device is positioned less as a mass-market handset and more as a status object for people who expect both advanced technology and highly personalized service.

What sets AlphaFold apart is not only the foldable form factor, but the way Vertu combines large-screen productivity, on-device AI, satellite connectivity, and luxury materials in a single product. The result is a phone built for a very specific audience, from billionaires and yacht owners to users who want a work tool that also signals exclusivity.

A foldable designed for serious screen space

AlphaFold comes with a 6.53-inch outer display and an 8.05-inch main display, both protected with Ultra-Thin Glass. Vertu says this size is suited to reviewing complex contracts, monitoring multi-system operational dashboards, and comparing financial balance sheets.

That positioning gives the phone a different identity from many other foldables. Vertu is not just selling a folding mechanism, but a display experience aimed at high-level productivity.

Hermes AI meets 24-hour human support

One of the headline features is Hermes AI, a local AI agent built into the device. Vertu says it can summarize thick documents, manage more than 70 apps at once, and organize complex executive dashboards.

If AI assistance is not enough, users can press a button to reach Vertu’s human concierge service. The service runs 24 hours a day, creating a combination of automated help and personal support within the same device.

Built to stay connected beyond mobile networks

Vertu also equips AlphaFold with two-way satellite communication. The feature is intended to keep users connected when they are outside the reach of cellular networks.

That capability is especially relevant in remote locations or on private yachts. In Vertu’s framing, it is part of a premium connectivity experience that is meant to work without limits.

High-end hardware and layered security

Under the hood, AlphaFold uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Power comes from a 6,500mAh Silicon-Carbon battery that Vertu claims can last up to 28 hours of heavy use.

Charging is also relatively fast, with 65W support. Vertu says the battery can reach 50 percent in just 20 minutes, while a dedicated A5 security chip stores sensitive credentials and cryptographic keys separately.

Hermes AI is also restricted from transferring money or changing important data without direct user approval. That approach shows Vertu’s emphasis on manual control for sensitive actions.

Materials that reinforce the luxury positioning

The exterior materials are one of AlphaFold’s biggest differentiators. Vertu offers cowhide leather in two colors, crocodile leather in seven colors, and a pure 18-karat gold version set with genuine brilliant-cut diamonds.

The hinge uses titanium and liquid metal, while the body is decorated with hand-engraved Clous de Paris detailing. Those choices make the device feel closer to a high-end collectible than to a conventional smartphone.

Pricing that leaves mainstream phones far behind

AlphaFold is already available through Vertu’s official site, and its pricing reflects its ultra-premium positioning. The Stitched Calfskin version starts at USD 6,880, while the Alligator Skin model begins at USD 8,800.

Higher up the range, the Himalaya Alligator version is priced at USD 21,200. The top-tier Alligator Skin Gold & Diamond variant reaches USD 34,200, or around Rp557 million.
