Xiaomi is pushing its 17T Series deeper into the premium smartphone segment in Indonesia with a clear focus on imaging, display quality, and battery endurance. The lineup arrives with two models, the Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 17T Pro, and both place Leica 5x Telephoto at the center of the experience.
That zoom capability is available across the entire series, making it one of the main differentiators as Xiaomi responds to users who want more than a good main camera. The company is also aiming at people who expect stronger video tools, more expressive photo output, and a more complete premium package from their next phone.
Camera system built around Leica optics
Both models use a triple-camera setup led by a 50 MP main camera developed through collaboration between Leica and Xiaomi. Leica 5x Telephoto is a key feature on every model, and it comes with OIS and support for 50 MP output at different focal lengths.
Xiaomi also added Leica Live Moment to bring more context, emotion, and a more vivid feel to photos. The feature works across all rear-camera focal lengths, including Portrait mode with natural-looking bokeh.
To make sharing easier, Xiaomi includes a Leica-specific watermark for Leica Live Moment photos. The phones also offer collage templates so users can package their shots more quickly for social media.
Video tools and stage-friendly capture
On the video side, the Xiaomi 17T Pro supports cinematic 4K 60 fps recording. Xiaomi also introduced a Stage mode designed to help users capture photos and videos in performance settings, including difficult lighting conditions such as concerts.
The Pro model goes further with live cinematography features that include Ultra-HD Live Moment 4K and seamless zoom effects from Freestyle or Portrait mode. Xiaomi says this setup is supported by an ultra-large 1/1.31-inch sensor on the Xiaomi 17T Pro and a 1/1.55-inch sensor on the Xiaomi 17T.
Both devices use Leica UltraPure optical lens design and a hybrid Leica Summilux 1G + 6P lens structure. Xiaomi claims the combination delivers more vivid detail, higher resolution, wider color reproduction, and a more dramatic bokeh effect.
Display and eye comfort take priority
The Xiaomi 17T Series uses an AMOLED panel with 1.5K resolution. Xiaomi also built in a new Vision Care technology based on medical research and precision engineering to improve eye comfort during long use.
The screen is designed to adapt to surrounding light while reducing blue light exposure, flicker, and motion blur. Xiaomi says the series is the first smartphone to receive four eye-protection certifications from TÜV Rheinland, and it is also the company’s first product to earn TÜV Rheinland Intelligent Eye Care certification.
Refresh rates are set at 144 Hz on the Xiaomi 17T Pro and 120 Hz on the Xiaomi 17T. Peak brightness reaches 3,500 nits, while the minimum can go down to 1 nit, and the display uses an ultra-thin flat bezel on all four sides measuring 1.29 mm.
The body is made more compact and lighter as part of the design, with the goal of making it comfortable to hold with one hand.
Battery and performance for the premium tier
Battery life is another major selling point. The Xiaomi 17T Pro packs a 7,000 mAh battery, which Xiaomi describes as the largest battery on an international Xiaomi smartphone, and it is 27% larger than the previous generation.
Charging support includes 100W HyperCharge for wired charging and 50W HyperCharge for wireless charging. The Xiaomi 17T comes with a 6,500 mAh battery, up 18% from its predecessor, and supports 67W HyperCharge.
Both models are compatible with third-party chargers through PPS 100W and 50W support. For thermals, Xiaomi uses a 3D IceLoop System on both phones to move heat away from the chipset quickly during heavy use.
The Xiaomi 17T Pro runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 built on a 3 nm process. The Xiaomi 17T uses the MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra on a 4 nm process, with Xiaomi highlighting gains in CPU, GPU, and AI processing.
