Galaxy A36 Gets May 2026 Security Patch, Closing 36 Vulnerabilities

Samsung has started rolling out a new software update for the Galaxy A36, and the package is focused entirely on security. The update brings the May 2026 security patch, closing 36 security vulnerabilities that were present in the previous firmware.

The timing matters because the Galaxy A36 had already received the stable One UI 8.5 update before this rollout began. That earlier release still carried the April 2026 security patch, so the latest package now adds a more current layer of protection for users who are already on Samsung’s newer interface.

Security patch after One UI 8.5

This new release is not a feature-packed update. Instead, it acts as a follow-up to One UI 8.5 and updates the device’s security foundation without changing the interface or adding major new functions.

That approach is common for Samsung devices. Large software releases often arrive with security patches that are already one month behind, and a later update then brings the newer protection level.

For Galaxy A36 owners, that means the device is now catching up on the security side after the main software upgrade was already in place. The May 2026 patch specifically addresses 36 issues, making this an important maintenance release rather than a visible software overhaul.

What the rollout includes

The update has been spotted in India and carries firmware version A366EXXSACZE3. Its download size is 432.82MB, which suggests a relatively focused package compared with a full feature update.

No additional feature changes were mentioned alongside the release. The available details point only to security improvements, so users should expect a patch aimed at protection rather than new tools, visual changes, or interface adjustments.

That also helps distinguish it from the stable One UI 8.5 release that came before it. The new firmware is meant to build on that earlier software, not replace it with a new major version.

Distribution is still limited

At this stage, the rollout has only been confirmed in India. Samsung has not provided details about other markets, so the update is likely being released in stages rather than all at once.

This kind of gradual rollout is standard for software updates. Some users may need to wait before the notification appears, even if the package is already being prepared for their region.

Those who want to check manually can do so through Settings, then Software update, and finally Download and install. If the rollout has reached a specific unit, the new package should appear there.

A sign of ongoing support

The arrival of the May 2026 patch also shows that Samsung is still actively supporting the Galaxy A36 after its main interface update cycle began. The device continues to receive maintenance releases that keep its software current on the security side.

The model is also said to be eligible for One UI 9.0, which gives the Galaxy A36 a longer software runway ahead. For users, that means the phone is still firmly inside Samsung’s update path and not near the end of its support story.

Even so, the update now rolling out is strictly about security. With 36 vulnerabilities addressed and the latest patch level added, the Galaxy A36 is getting an important refinement for users who have already moved to One UI 8.5.
