iFlytek Fika Brings Smartphone-Like Design to E Ink Reading, 140-Gram Body at Rp5,2 Jutaan

A compact e-reader with a smartphone-like profile is drawing attention, and iFlytek’s Fika is built around that idea. The device keeps the focus on reading, but it packages the experience in a slim body that is easier to carry than a tablet.

At 140 grams and 6.7 mm thick, the Fika is designed for one-handed use and quick movement between places. Its elongated shape also makes it practical for commuting, especially when reading on the go in crowded transport.

E Ink display with a paper-like look

The main attraction is a 6.13-inch E Ink Carta 1300 display with a 300 ppi density. That combination is meant to keep text sharp and close to the look of printed pages.

iFlytek also uses IFR 2.0 fast refresh technology to reduce ghosting when pages change. A warm light system with adjustable brightness is included as well, giving users more control when reading at night.

Modern hardware for a reading-focused device

Inside, the Fika runs on a MediaTek octa-core processor built on a 6nm process. It is paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, which should be enough for large book collections, work documents, and audiobooks.

The device ships with Android 15, which stands out in a segment where many e-readers still rely on older software. iFlytek also adds Focus Mode, a feature that hides other apps so readers can stay concentrated on books or documents.

AI features placed on the side

One of the most distinctive elements is the dedicated AI button on the right side of the device. It can detect the text currently shown on the screen and then suggest related questions or recommend relevant reading.

That approach pushes the Fika beyond a standard e-reader. iFlytek appears to position it as a device that not only displays content, but also helps users process it in a more guided way.

Connectivity, battery life, and extras

For wireless use, the Fika supports Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 4.2, and 4G. Buyers in its home market also receive 2GB of free data per month for a full year, which helps with syncing and downloading books away from Wi-Fi.

Power comes from a 2,580 mAh battery with 10W charging. iFlytek says the battery can last up to a week with average reading of two hours per day, and up to 21 days in standby mode.

Price and color options

The Fika is priced at around Rp5.2 million, or 2399 Yuan in China. Its position is described as competitive in its class, including against devices such as the Boox Palma.

Two coffee-themed color choices are offered: Flat White and Iced Americano. The device also includes Text to Speech support with five voice options, letting users listen to books while driving, exercising, or doing household tasks.
