The busiest stretch of June is shaping up to be a direct test of appetite for premium mid-range phones, and Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ and Xiaomi 17T are at the center of that race. Both are set to arrive in India on 4 June, and both lean on a 6,500mAh battery, but the rest of their hardware points to very different buying priorities.
That shared battery capacity makes the comparison immediately interesting, yet the two phones are not chasing the same kind of user. Motorola is pushing harder on display brightness, charging speed, durability, and a more aggressive camera setup, while Xiaomi is positioning the 17T with a more familiar premium formula and a global launch history already behind it.
Motorola’s more ambitious spec sheet
Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ is scheduled to launch in India at 12:00 pm IST on 4 June 2026, with Flipkart serving as the sales channel. It sits above the Motorola Edge 70 Pro in the lineup, and Motorola has already confirmed the Dimensity 8500 Extreme chipset for the device.
The rest of the package is built to look high-end from multiple angles. Motorola says the phone will support up to 3 years of Android OS updates and 5 years of security patches.
Its display is one of the standout features. The Edge 70 Pro+ uses a 6.8-inch Extreme AMOLED Super HD panel with a 2772 x 1272 pixel resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness rating of 5,200 nits.
Battery, charging, and toughness
The battery capacity is the same headline number seen on Xiaomi’s side, but Motorola adds faster charging options. The phone carries a 6,500mAh battery with 90W wired charging and 15W wireless charging.
Motorola is also leaning heavily into durability. The Edge 70 Pro+ carries IP69 and IP68 ratings, along with MIL-STD-810H certification, which gives the phone a tougher image than many rivals in this segment.
Camera hardware aimed at flexibility
Photography is another area where Motorola is trying to stand out. The rear setup uses three 50MP sensors, starting with a Sony LYT-710 50MP main camera.
That is joined by a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 3.5x zoom. The configuration suggests Motorola wants the device to appeal to users who care about zoom reach and all-around versatility.
Pricing has not been officially announced yet. Still, the expected India range is said to be between Rs 45,000 and Rs 50,000.
Xiaomi 17T takes a more familiar premium route
Xiaomi 17T is also due in India on 4 June 2026, and unlike Motorola’s handset, it has already been introduced globally together with the Xiaomi 17T Pro. That makes its core specifications easier to map ahead of the India debut.
The phone features a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Power comes from the Dimensity 8500 Ultra, while the battery once again lands at 6,500mAh, paired with 67W fast charging.
Xiaomi’s camera approach is different from Motorola’s. The 17T is said to include a 50MP Light Fusion 800 main camera, a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 5x zoom, and a 12MP ultrawide camera.
For selfies, Xiaomi provides a 32MP front camera. The expected starting price in India is Rs 65,999 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage version.
India gets a crowded launch day
The shared launch date makes the rivalry even more visible, especially because India is also getting other new phones in the same period. Lava Bold N2 5G is set for 3 June, while Huawei’s Nova 16 series opens the week on 1 June in China.
That wider calendar gives the Xiaomi and Motorola launches extra weight in India, where both brands are trying to capture attention with different strengths. One is focused on endurance, charging, and rugged credentials, while the other builds around camera reach, a global rollout, and a more established premium positioning.
