Apple is preparing a broad overhaul of its core services in iOS 27, with changes that reach Maps, Music, Podcasts, Find My, and iCloud. The update is aimed at making everyday apps feel more personal, more collaborative, and more closely tied to AI.
The shift matters because these are the services many users rely on every day to navigate cities, play music, share photos, and track devices or people. Apple says the new features are being designed with privacy in mind, even as the company expands the role of intelligence features across the system.
Maps and Find My are getting the clearest functional changes
Apple Maps will see a notable upgrade to Flyover, which now uses AI models to create a more detailed and realistic view of cities. The feature previously offered a 3D aerial perspective, but Apple is now using AI to make urban representations sharper and more immersive.
Maps is also gaining Local Lists for users in the United States. The feature helps surface restaurants, attractions, family-friendly places, and popular destinations using aggregated usage trends, while Apple says the data is not tied to any individual identity.
Find My is becoming more flexible for day-to-day use. Users can now share location for more specific periods, including a few minutes, a few hours, or several days.
They can also set a precise end date and time for location sharing. Another new option allows sharing with a contact to be paused until the end of the day, which could help users limit tracking during private moments or surprise plans.
On Apple Watch, Apple is combining three separate apps into one unified Find My app. The new interface brings devices, items, and people into a single map-based view, making the experience simpler to navigate.
Precision Finding is also expanding. Apple says the feature now supports iPhone, second-generation AirTag, and AirPods Pro 3 with improved accuracy.
Music and Podcasts are becoming more useful across languages and formats
Apple Music is adding a substantial update for listeners who move between languages. Lyrics Translation now supports seven new language pairs, including English-French, English-German, English-Italian, English-Korean, English-Spanish, French-English, and Japanese-English.
Apple says the machine learning system behind the feature is designed to preserve the emotional and cultural tone of the original lyrics. Lyrics Pronunciation is also expanding with five new language pairs, helping listeners follow foreign songs through more accurate transliteration.
AutoMix in Apple Music is being improved as well. The feature now delivers smoother transitions between songs, making playback feel closer to a professional DJ mix.
Apple Podcasts is also receiving changes that will matter to Mac users. Video podcasts can now be watched directly in the Podcasts app, with a layout optimized for the larger screen.
Apple is adding Picture-in-Picture support too, so video playback can continue while users switch to other apps or tasks. Search inside shows is also expanding to iPhone, iPad, Mac, and the Apple Podcasts website, making it easier to jump straight to a specific episode.
iCloud and Fitness+ add new flexibility
iCloud Shared Albums is being updated so users can share full-resolution photos without compression. The feature also expands file support and adds emoji reactions plus recent activity viewing inside each shared album.
Apple is introducing Temporary Albums as well. The new option allows short-term collaborative albums without permanently using iCloud storage, and it opens participation to non-Apple users through a web browser.
For iCloud+ subscribers, Apple is raising the daily Apple Intelligence limit for image generation features and adding Apple Intelligence support for compatible Home cameras.
Beyond media and storage, Apple is also extending the update to Fitness+. A new program called Strong Through Menopause is designed for users going through perimenopause and menopause.
The three-week program combines strength training and yoga to support fitness, balance, and stress reduction. It also complements the perimenopause tracking Apple previously introduced in the Health app on iOS 27.
Apple announced the changes at WWDC 2026 alongside iOS 27 and its other operating systems, including iPadOS 27, macOS 27 Golden Gate, and watchOS 27. Developer betas are already available through the Apple Developer Program, and a public beta is planned for July 2026 before a free final release for compatible devices in the fall of 2026.
