Honor Magic Series Gets 7 Years of Updates, Europe Buyers Gain a Rare Flagship Promise

Honor has reinforced one of the strongest software promises currently offered in the premium phone market. The company says its Magic series will receive seven years of operating system upgrades and security patches in the European Union and the United Kingdom.

The commitment arrives as Honor expands the global reach of the Magic V6, its latest foldable flagship. The device has already begun rolling out internationally in Malaysia and Singapore, and it is expected to reach Europe soon.

A long update window for premium buyers

For flagship phones, support length is now part of the purchase decision, not just a technical detail. Longer update commitments can improve the usable life of a device and strengthen confidence in a premium investment.

Honor’s latest confirmation makes clear that the seven-year policy applies beyond the Magic V6 itself. Other models in the Magic line will also receive the same seven-year window for OS updates and security patches in the EU and the UK.

Europe remains the focus of the pledge

The policy is centered on European markets, where Honor is preparing to bring the Magic V6 next. The company’s message is straightforward: the Magic family is being positioned with long-term software support as a defining feature.

That message is not entirely new. Honor already committed last year to providing seven years of updates for all Magic devices, and the company is now restating that position as its premium lineup expands.

This kind of consistency matters in a market where product cycles move quickly. A repeated promise over time signals that the company still wants its flagship series to stand out on support, not only on hardware.

Magic V6 leads the current expansion

The Magic V6 is the most visible part of the rollout because it is Honor’s new foldable flagship. Its international launch began in Malaysia and Singapore, with Europe next in line.

Alongside the software pledge, Honor is also highlighting the device’s premium positioning. The foldable category already carries high expectations, and buyers in that segment usually expect a stronger support package than mainstream phones receive.

Different support windows across the lineup

Honor is not applying the same support length to every device class. The company says its more affordable number series will receive six years of support instead.

That split places the Magic series at the top of Honor’s software priority list. It also shows that the company still offers long support terms outside the flagship tier, even if those terms are shorter than the ones assigned to Magic devices.

New software features are still coming

Honor is also preparing new software functions for its phones. One of the features mentioned is Virtual Permissions, which is set to arrive through Magic OS 10.0.0.160.

The feature is designed for apps that refuse to run unless certain permissions are granted. With Virtual Permissions, Honor says users will be able to bypass that requirement without actually giving the app real access.

If delivered as described, the function would add another layer of privacy control for users. It also shows that Honor is treating software support as more than routine maintenance, since updates can introduce new tools that change day-to-day use.

Beyond software, Honor has also shown off a special edition case for the Magic V6. The accessory was presented by Yoni Alter, an artist who has previously collaborated with Hermès.

That detail reinforces the Magic V6’s premium image, which mixes design, lifestyle appeal, and long-term software support. For Europe-based buyers, though, the main takeaway remains the same: the Magic series is now backed by a seven-year update commitment in the EU and the UK.
