Samsung’s Foldable Push Expands, Three New Models Surface Ahead of Unpacked

Samsung’s next foldable lineup is moving closer to launch in India, and the latest signal comes from the Bureau of Indian Standards. Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide and Galaxy Z Flip 8 have now appeared in the BIS database, adding fresh weight to expectations that the company is preparing a major foldable reveal.

The timing is notable because the listings arrived just ahead of the next Galaxy Unpacked event, which is widely expected to take place next month. A third device, identified as Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, also surfaced in the same certification trail, suggesting Samsung may be readying more than one premium foldable at once.

BIS listings point to a broad launch plan

The new BIS entries were first highlighted by tech blogger Anvin, who posts under the handle @ZionsAnvin. According to his findings, three Samsung foldables were certified between June 4 and June 9, creating a clearer picture of the company’s next steps for the Indian market.

For Galaxy Z Flip 8, the listed model numbers are SM-A857B and SM-F776B. The device believed to be Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide appears under SM-D642B and SM-F971B, while the Ultra variant is associated with SM-D647B and SM-F976B.

The certification documents do not reveal hardware details, but model numbers appearing in BIS records usually indicate that a public launch is not far away. That makes the current wave of listings more significant than a routine paperwork update.

The Ultra model keeps appearing

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is especially interesting because it is not limited to a single appearance. The model number SM-F976B had already been seen in a previous BIS listing, and its reappearance strengthens the case that Samsung is indeed preparing a higher-end foldable variant.

The same model name has also shown up in Bluetooth SIG documentation, giving the Ultra rumor a second layer of support. When a device appears across multiple certification databases, it often becomes harder to dismiss as speculation.

Wide may not be the final name

Unlike the Flip 8 and the Fold 8 Ultra, the broader foldable model has not settled on a confirmed retail name. Several recent reports have referred to it as Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, but Samsung has not officially locked in that branding.

For now, “Wide” should be treated as a temporary label rather than a final product name. Even so, its presence in BIS suggests that the device is being prepared for the Indian market alongside the other foldables.

Unpacked is the next focal point

Attention is now shifting to the next Galaxy Unpacked event, which is rumored for July 22. If that date holds, Samsung could use the stage to introduce its next wave of foldables, along with a new generation of Galaxy smartwatches that has also been mentioned in recent reports.

BIS certification alone does not confirm launch timing, but it does show that the release process is advancing. With three foldables now circulating through certification channels, Samsung appears to be building toward a more ambitious foldable showcase than usual.

What remains unknown is the full hardware picture. The BIS entries do not disclose display sizes, camera systems, batteries, or chipsets, so the current focus stays on model names, certification trails, and the growing likelihood of a coordinated launch.

There is also a separate line of reporting suggesting that Galaxy Z Flip 8 could become Samsung’s last clamshell-style foldable. If that proves accurate, the company’s foldable strategy may eventually tilt more heavily toward book-style devices.

For now, the clearest evidence comes from the certification trail in India and the repeated appearance of these model identifiers. With Galaxy Unpacked approaching, Samsung’s next foldable generation is looking more concrete by the day.
