Samsung Turns to Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, Galaxy A27 Gains a Sharper Midrange Edge

Samsung has taken a notable turn with the Galaxy A27 by moving away from Exynos and adopting Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. The shift gives the new midrange model a different identity from earlier Galaxy A2x devices and places performance and efficiency at the center of its appeal.

The phone also launches with One UI 8.5 based on Android 16, making it one of the more current software packages in Samsung’s midrange lineup. That combination of newer hardware and newer software gives the Galaxy A27 a more complete refresh than a simple annual update.

A bigger screen, smoother interaction

Samsung equips the Galaxy A27 with a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution. The panel also supports a 120Hz refresh rate, which should make scrolling, navigation, and everyday use feel noticeably smoother.

The front design has also changed, with a centered punch-hole camera replacing the older notch look. That adjustment gives the device a cleaner and more premium appearance from the front.

Camera setup keeps stabilization at the center

On the rear, the Galaxy A27 uses a 50 MP main camera with Optical Image Stabilization. The OIS support is important for reducing shake in both photos and videos, especially in less steady shooting conditions.

The selfie camera comes in at 12 MP, while the supporting cameras are more modest. Samsung has paired the main sensor with a 5 MP ultrawide camera and a 2 MP macro camera.

Memory, battery, and charging remain practical

The Galaxy A27 is offered with 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM, alongside 128 GB or 256 GB of internal storage. Samsung also includes a 5,000 mAh battery, which remains a familiar capacity for users who want a full day of use.

Charging support is rated at 25W, keeping the device in line with what many buyers expect in the midrange segment. It is a practical setup rather than an aggressive one, but it matches the phone’s positioning well.

Long software support adds real value

Out of the box, the Galaxy A27 runs One UI 8.5 on Android 16 and includes features such as Circle to Search, Object Eraser, and voice recording transcription and translation. Samsung is also promising six years of Android version updates and security patches, which strengthens the device’s long-term appeal.

For protection, the phone carries an IP64 rating against dust and splashes. It will be sold in Black, Blue, Light Green, and Pink, giving buyers a fairly broad range of color choices.

Samsung has not announced official global or Indonesian pricing yet. In Europe, however, the 6 GB/128 GB version is expected to start at 349 euro, or around Rp 6.2 million, while the 8 GB/256 GB model is said to reach 439 euro, or around Rp 7.8 million.

That pricing expectation, together with the Snapdragon switch and the six-year software commitment, positions the Galaxy A27 as a more ambitious midrange entry than its predecessor. For buyers watching Samsung’s A-series closely, the biggest story is not just the new chipset, but the way the entire package has been updated to feel more current.
