Samsung’s Fold Line May Split In Two, Three New Foldables Surface In TKDN

Samsung’s next foldable lineup is taking shape in Indonesia, and the most intriguing sign is not just the arrival of new devices, but the possibility that the Galaxy Z Fold family is about to change structure.

Three Samsung foldables have now appeared in the Ministry of Industry’s TKDN database, each clearing the required 35 percent domestic content threshold. The listed model numbers are SM-F776B, SM-F976B, and SM-F971B.

A new Fold strategy appears to be forming

The three model numbers have already circulated in online leaks, where they are widely linked to the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. If that mapping proves correct, Samsung would be preparing more than a routine annual refresh.

For years, the Galaxy Z Fold line has centered on a single main book-style model. This time, leaks suggest Samsung may divide the Fold range into two models with different roles and positioning.

Industry chatter from tipster Ice Universe points to a device previously rumored as the Galaxy Z Fold Wide possibly arriving as the Galaxy Z Fold 8. The regular successor to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is said to be headed for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra name instead.

The model called Wide could be the biggest shift

Among the three, the so-called Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide is drawing the most attention. The leak points to a more radical design direction, with a 4:3 display ratio when unfolded.

That format would make the device feel closer to a compact tablet than earlier Fold models, which have used a ratio closer to a square. The wider layout is expected to be better suited for reading documents, multitasking, and watching video.

By comparison, Galaxy Z Fold models released from 2019 through 2025 have kept a display shape that leans near-square. That approach has often been less friendly to widescreen content, leaving black bars or unused space in some scenarios.

Leaked renders and dummy images also suggest the Wide model may carry only two rear cameras. That would make it visually distinct from the Ultra variant, which is expected to be the more fully equipped option.

Reports circulating online place the main display size at around 7.6 inches when opened, while the cover screen is said to be about 5.4 inches.

Ultra is tipped to be the premium flagship

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is being described as the most advanced model in the new lineup. One of the most notable rumored upgrades is a 5,000 mAh battery.

That would be a step up from the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s 4,400 mAh capacity, giving the Ultra a clear edge in one of the most closely watched categories for foldables. The device is also said to retain a stronger camera system.

Although full details remain unclear, the Ultra is rumored to inherit the 200 MP camera from last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 7. If true, that would reinforce its role as the top-tier variant in the family.

The SM-F776B model is believed to be the Galaxy Z Flip 8, rounding out Samsung’s trio of upcoming foldables. Together, the three devices suggest Samsung is preparing a broader and more segmented strategy for its premium foldable range.

Samsung has not officially announced Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, or Galaxy Z Flip 8. The devices have also not yet appeared in the Postel certification system at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, suggesting the launch process in Indonesia is still underway.

Rumors also point to a second Galaxy Unpacked event this year, reportedly set for London, England, on 22 July 2026. At that event, Samsung is expected to unveil its next Galaxy Watch generation along with other Galaxy ecosystem products.

The same leaks say the new foldables may ship with One UI 9 based on Android 17. For now, though, the TKDN listing is the clearest public signal that Samsung’s next foldables are moving closer to Indonesia.
