Exynos 2700 Moves Ahead, Samsung’s Next Flagship Chip Is Already in Development

Samsung’s next in-house flagship chip is already taking shape, and the early signs suggest the company is moving without major friction. Exynos 2700 has reportedly entered development and is being prepared for top-tier smartphones, making it a likely candidate for the Galaxy S27 lineup.

The update matters because it comes soon after the Galaxy S26 launch cycle, showing that Samsung is already laying the groundwork for its next premium phones. If the chip reaches production on schedule, it could continue Samsung’s recent push to keep Exynos inside its flagship strategy.

A development track that appears steady

According to Korea Economic Daily, Samsung System LSI Business president Park Yong-In said in an internal briefing that Exynos 2700 development has started. He also reportedly said the process is moving without obstacles, which adds weight to the early-stage update.

The same report says Samsung’s semiconductor division is targeting the chip for “top-tier smartphones.” That positioning makes the Galaxy S27, expected next year, one of the clearest fits even though Samsung has not confirmed the final product lineup.

What the first benchmark hints at

Before the internal remarks surfaced, Exynos 2700 was already reported on Geekbench under the model number S5E9975. The listing suggested Samsung is testing a 10-core design, giving the first public glimpse of how the chip may be arranged.

The benchmark details show a unusual cluster layout for a mobile premium processor. It includes one Cluster 1 core at 2.30GHz, four Cluster 2 cores at 2.40GHz, one Cluster 3 core at 2.78GHz, and four Cluster 4 cores at 2.88GHz.

Geekbench also listed the chip with Xclipse 970 graphics, indicating Samsung is keeping its Xclipse GPU branding in the next flagship generation. The test device carried 10.80GB of RAM, which is typically interpreted as 12GB in commercial terms.

The same listing showed scores of 2,603 in single-core and 10,350 in multi-core testing. Those numbers offer an early reference point, but they do not represent final retail performance because the chip and software stack are still under development.

Why Galaxy S27 is the most likely destination

Samsung has already used Exynos 2600 in the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ after introducing the chip with those phones in India in February earlier this year. The company said that chip was the world’s first mobile platform built on a 2nm process, making it the natural benchmark for the next step forward.

With Exynos 2700 now in development, Samsung appears intent on maintaining its flagship Exynos line rather than pausing after the 2nm milestone. Whether the new chip will appear across the entire Galaxy S27 family or only in selected markets remains unclear.

Park Yong-In was also reportedly cautious about the broader semiconductor business, saying the division may face an operating loss amid an industry contraction linked to shortages in memory and storage chips. That backdrop suggests Exynos 2700 is being developed in a more difficult market environment, making its progress even more significant for Samsung’s premium device plans.
