Apple appears to be preparing one of its most ambitious hardware stretches in years, with a product roadmap that could change the company’s lineup across 2026 and 2027. The period is gaining attention because it may bring a foldable iPhone, new wearables, upgraded Macs and iPads, and a broader push into the smart home.
The timing also matters because 2027 would mark the 20th anniversary of the iPhone. If the reported plans hold, Apple could use that milestone to stage one of its biggest product refresh cycles in years.
Foldable iPhone and the iPhone 18 family
The first major wave is expected to arrive with the iPhone 18 lineup. That family is said to include the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and Apple’s first foldable iPhone.
In ongoing rumors, the foldable model is often referred to as the iPhone Ultra. It is also being positioned as the most expensive iPhone Apple has ever released.
Apple is reportedly planning to pair that launch with the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4. That would make the upgrade cycle broader than a standard iPhone refresh, with major attention on both phones and wearables.
A 20th-anniversary iPhone could bring a new design language
The bigger design statement may come in 2027. Apple is believed to be preparing a special iPhone model to mark 20 years of the product line.
That device is said to feature a near edge-to-edge display and a curved glass design. It is also expected to arrive alongside the second-generation foldable iPhone.
Together, those changes suggest Apple is not only adding new categories, but also trying to redefine the look of the iPhone itself.
Wearables are moving beyond the usual formula
Apple’s wearable plans appear to go beyond watches and earbuds. One project under development is AirPods with cameras.
Those cameras are not meant for taking photos. Instead, they are expected to provide visual context for Siri and Apple Intelligence, helping the system better understand the user’s surroundings.
That device may arrive around the same period as Apple’s first smart glasses. The glasses are expected to compete in a market that already includes Meta’s products.
Smart glasses, Macs, iPads and home devices
Smart glasses have been rumored for some time, with earlier reports pointing to a 2026 launch window. Gurman now says the product may not arrive until late 2027.
Beyond the more futuristic products, Apple is also developing several familiar categories. New Mac models are in the pipeline with the next generation of Apple Silicon chips, while the entry-level iPad is said to be getting Apple Intelligence support.
Apple’s smart home lineup is also due for attention. A new Apple TV and a new HomePod mini are reportedly being prepared with Apple Intelligence integration, and both could arrive later this year.
Those updates are said to be minor from a hardware perspective, but they could benefit from the new Siri experience that is becoming central to Apple Intelligence.
Longer-term bets include a table robot and future Vision hardware
Looking further ahead, Apple is also rumored to be working on a tabletop robot. The device is said to use a screen mounted on a robotic arm, extending Apple’s ambitions in the smart home space.
That product is expected to arrive in late 2027 or 2028, placing it firmly in the mid-term roadmap rather than the immediate launch window.
Apple is also believed to be developing future versions of Vision hardware, while continuing work on full augmented reality glasses. Those AR glasses are not expected anytime soon, but they remain part of the company’s long-range plans.
