HMD’s rumored Luma 2 is drawing attention for a mix of practical features that could matter more than raw novelty in the entry-level segment. The leak points to a 6,000mAh battery, a 120Hz display, and a 50MP main camera, all packaged in a budget-friendly device.
The details come from tipster @smashx_60, who also shared the phone’s color options and design direction. If accurate, the handset could arrive in ice blue, light sand, and midnight lake, giving HMD a more distinctive look than many low-cost phones.
A simple design with a different camera layout
Images circulating alongside the leak suggest a restrained design approach, but with one visible twist at the back. The HMD Luma 2 appears to use a squircle-shaped camera island that stands slightly above the rear body.
Inside that module, two camera rings are arranged vertically on a rectangular platform near the top of the back panel. The layout keeps the overall look clean while still creating a clear visual identity for the device.
Display and performance focus on everyday use
On the front, the phone is said to feature a 6.75-inch IPS LCD panel with HD+ resolution. The standout detail is the reported 120Hz refresh rate, which should make scrolling and general navigation feel smoother than on standard 60Hz screens.
That display choice also shows where HMD may be balancing costs. The panel is not Full HD, but the combination of a large screen and faster refresh rate could still be attractive for social media, video, and routine daily use.
Under the hood, the Luma 2 is expected to use the Unisoc T7280 chipset. It is paired with 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.1 storage, which keeps the device positioned firmly in the affordable category.
The leaked memory options include 4GB+128GB and 4GB+256GB variants. HMD is also said to support MicroSD expansion of up to 1TB, while virtual RAM could bring the total memory pool up to 8GB.
Android 16 is reportedly the software version on the phone. If confirmed, that would give the device a relatively current operating system for its price class.
Cameras, audio, and durability extras
Photography appears to center on a 50MP main camera, assisted by an AI lens. Up front, the leak mentions an 8MP selfie camera for video calls and self-portraits.
Several practical features also appear to be included. The phone is said to keep a 3.5mm headphone jack, support OZO audio playback through its speaker, and carry an IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance.
The battery may be the biggest draw
The most eye-catching specification in the leak is the 6,000mAh battery. HMD is also rumored to pair it with 18W wired charging, a combination that should prioritize endurance over faster top-ups.
For an entry-level phone, that battery size could be one of the strongest selling points. A large cell, an HD+ screen, and a modest chipset are a familiar formula for long-lasting everyday usage.
The HMD Luma 2 is believed to be the successor to the original HMD Luma, which launched in several global markets as a 4G entry-level phone. HMD has not announced official launch timing or pricing yet.
