Samsung’s next smartwatch generation is starting to look less conservative. A fresh leak points to a more angular Galaxy Watch9 and a refined Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, alongside new straps, colors, watch faces, and software changes.
The most striking detail is that Samsung may be simplifying the lineup. This time, there is no sign of a Classic model, leaving the regular Galaxy Watch9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 as the main focus.
Galaxy Watch9 and Ultra 2 take different design directions
According to Galaxy Techie on X, the Galaxy Watch9 will look more boxy than earlier non-Ultra Galaxy Watch models. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, meanwhile, is said to get a thinner bezel and a better side-button area.
That split suggests Samsung wants each model to stand out more clearly. The Watch9 appears to be moving toward a sharper everyday look, while the Ultra 2 keeps its rugged identity but trims some of the bulk around the edges.
One visual change on the Ultra 2 stands out more than the rest. The orange button detail that became a defining Ultra trait is reportedly being toned down, with only the outline remaining orange instead of the entire button.
New straps and color options are also coming
The strap design is said to change as well, with both models using the same default strap design. The main difference will be in the arrangement of the holes, which hints at a shared visual language across the two watches.
Color choices for the standard model have also surfaced. Galaxy Watch9 is reportedly coming in beige, black with a bluish-toned band, and silver with a green band.
Those combinations suggest Samsung is still balancing safe finishes with bolder accents. The result would keep the regular model versatile, while giving buyers a few more expressive options.
Wear OS 7 and One UI 9 Watch are part of the package
On the software side, the leak says both watches will run One UI 9 Watch based on Wear OS 7. That update is expected to bring new watch faces and other features, although the details have not been fully described yet.
The software shift matters because smartwatch buyers often notice the interface before the hardware. Watch faces, everyday interactions, and feature integration can define how fresh a new generation feels once it is on the wrist.

The timing of the launch is also beginning to take shape. Samsung is reportedly preparing to unveil the Galaxy Watch9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 on July 22 at Galaxy Unpacked in London.
The same event is said to include more than wearables. Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip8 are also rumored to appear on the same stage.
For now, these details remain unconfirmed. Samsung has not announced the final specifications, so the design, colors, battery sizes, and software features could still change before the official reveal.
Even so, the leak already points to a clear shift in direction. Samsung appears ready to separate its two watch families more sharply, while pairing that visual reset with a new software layer and a cleaner overall lineup.
